He made four films before Pineapple Express that range from one of my favorites of all time (All the Real Girls) to amazing (George Washington, Undertow and Snow Angels). I even really love his completely wacky (considering his previous films) drug trilogy. Yes, even The Sitter and Your Highness.

I've yet to see Prince Avalanche and his upcoming Joe (with Nick Cage) but they seem back to his old self.

Either way, he's an interesting guy that's for sure!

The Freshman and The Hidden Fortress are definites.

Two definites out of six? That might seem a little disappointing relative to the last couple 'holy shit' months but that's really pretty respectable.

And when you consider that one of the titles I'm discounting is by that Bergman guy...I dunno, it's kinda hard to whinge too hard about a bad month.

True that. My reaction is muted compared to the announcements for the two previous months, but I'm still pleased.

There's nothing in this March list that cannot wait for a 50% off sale, whereas January and February both have Day One purchase titles.

Safety Last! was a MAJOR disappointment for me so I will stay away from this one. If I ever watch it will be either via a library copy or a $2.50 download deal from Cineplex.

man, oh man, did I love All The Real Girls the first time I saw it. just like GW, though, it's been years. time to revisit it, I guess. I was pretty weepy by the time that film finished. (what else is new?) I was dating a girl who liked the band The Promise Ring and their song plays over the closing credits. just struck a chord with me in a huge way. oh.. and Zoey Deschannel (sp.?) before she was annoying as all f**k.

Seems like they didn't even have any of the new titles registered on the website hopefully they don't wait until tomorrow.

Pretty sure this is the only time where I'll buy a Criterion title day one, even though I'm seeing it in 35mm in a couple of weeks.

Persona is a day one purchase title, by anyone's standards.

I like this year's Prince Avalanche a lot. Haven't seen Joe yet.

The Hidden Fortress blu-ray the month after Throne of Blood? Can I get a HELL YEAH? And possibly Ikiru the month after that?

Persona and George Washington are both dope too. I have no interest in old comedies, though, and have never heard of The Great Beauty.

I just saw people posting about Hidden Fortress and Persona, but I don't see them on CC's page!

Just saw the page for Fortress and the specs are there, but no listing in the Coming Soon section...wtf?? lol

Absolutely Thrilled about "Persona"...

And I'm always happy to have any Kurosawa, but did we really need "Hidden Fortress" before "Ikiru" or "Stray Dog" or "Drunken Angel"?

Ugh...
