a Criterion Ring (boxset) would be absolutly amazing!
the german releases (they lack eng subs) are nothing you would want to collect anyway.
As somehow who truly dislikes The Ring franchise (both the Japanese and American ones), I hope the reference is to something else.

I don't think the bushes refer to anything specifically. If I recall correctly, there were some bushes or other shrubbery in Picnic At Hanging Rock.

The Great Owl,
Same here. The Japanese blu ray is already on my next up list. What to do?

Realistically, how many clues are there in one image, based on past years? Could there really be 15+ titles or is there over-speculation for a much lower number like 5-7?

I still want McCabe & Mrs. Miller. And Passion of Joan of Arc and Ikiru updates.

Well there are a lot of U2 fans out there (including myself), so some of us would enjoy it. And plus, I'm 99% positive it means Red Sun.

Heck, I could think of fifty New Wave affiliated bands who I would rather see get a criterion concert release . . .

U2 is like the musical equivalent of Paul Haggis: On occasion their work can touch me deeply, but most of the time it's all overwrought phony baloney.

I don't see It's a Wonderful Life being hinted at.

Usually about a dozen or so.

Which Lola are they referring to? I hope it's this one:

Every time a bell rings, the Criterion artist draws an angel with its wings.

The angel with the bell (every time a bell rings...), but I don't see it as being IAWL because Paramount owns the rights.

Somebody said maybe it refers to Breaking the Waves, but who knows.

Zuzu: [after a bell on the tree rings] "Look, Daddy. Teacher says, every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings."

EDIT: Sorry ... iScottie beat me to it.

I was hoping for a La Dolce Vita (fontaine or something) and In a Lonely Place hints. Oh well....life goes on

Btw, I'm not convinced that they're going to release It's a Wonderful Life and The Deer Hunter (especially the latter). Not at all. Those hints can be rather ambiguous sometimes.

I dunno, Paramount has been pretty open about giving its classics to Criterion. And if MGM can give 12 Angry Men to them, something like IAWL might not be out of the question.

The Demys, if announced, probably won't appear until after they appear in Europe. Lola has already appeared there.

Hmm, I dunno, it seems to me that IAWL is one of the gems of their catalog, especially during the holiday season. Whenever I see it in the stores, it's never being sold at a discount price and I'm sure it still sells well. I can't see them licencing that one out to anyone else.

They can do a "non-exclusive" license, like they did with Days of Heaven and Benjamin Button. I imagine they'd keep their release in print and give it over to Criterion to appease collectors, more than regular buyers.
