Yeah, I'm really hung up on it. I just really don't see Ringu being released by Criterion.

Also, does anyone know what the man with the red tie could be referencing? And I'm still unsure why Criterion released another Scanners clue when it was in last year's newsletter.

It's a year closer. Maybe 2019 ...

I have a feeling that Criterion will be releasing Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac and I pray that they release more Wong Kar Wai in 2014.

Pretty content with what we've figured out so far, though.

At least one is double-M, MM, for Marilyn Monroe?

Cornel Wilde's Beach Red would be pretty cool.

I do not see It's a Wonderful Life being released by Criterion. I bought and watched the existing Blu-ray edition of this movie last month, and there is no way that anyone will be able to improve on it. The existing Blu-ray is a beautiful presentation of a great black-and-white movie.
No, it is not. It has been severally degrained and then sharpened to counter act the results. Thus giving it a very digitized look. A Wonderful Life is one of the films that many have been hopeful would at some point be remastered. Its presentation is anything but beautiful and could easily be improved upon.

We got clues on consecutive NY's cartoons for Y Tu Mamá También (and we still don't have it yet).

Looking back to the teaser released Jan 1 2013, how many of the films, suggested by people, have been released or are coming soon??

I just went through all of Paul Thomas Anderson's films again(excluding Hard Eight) and here's how I'd rank them:

1. Boogie Nights
2. The Master
3. There Will Be Blood
4. Punch Drunk Love
5. Magnolia

I, like Kevin Smith, think Magnolia is the cinematic equivalent of a root canal. So bad.

I'd love to see any Beatle movie come out via Criterion bluray! That being said, could Let It Be even be a possibility? I'm thinking not at this point ... due to the same red tape that has prevented it from being previously released (other than bootlegs).

Saw that one just recently, a BD release would be most welcomed by me.

If you go to Criterioncast, they have this year's cartoon up with links to previous years and their guesses (which are slightly better than you'll find in this thread) and you can see for yourself how accurate the guesses have been. 2013 NYs cartoon had several clues that were pretty clear but the discs didn't materialize (Eraserhead, Scanners, etc) & so a bit less accurate than average.

I'll take credit for Raisin in the Sun. They posted after I did. That is not an easy clue unless you've been in Cali. and seen the animated raisin cartoon ads.

I am immensely pleased with the existing Blu-ray. If Criterion can improve on It's a Wonderful Life, however, then I'd love to see them try, and I'd gladly double-dip with a day-one purchase. It's one of the best films.

It IS the year AHDN will celebrate it's 50th anniversary. Let It Be will probably be released some time, but probably not by Criterion. It would be a cool release, though.

So when can we expect Trainspotting to be given the Criterion treatment? I assume it's getting it because it's trailer is included in the Shallow Grave blu.
