I'd love for Criterion to pick up this title one day and turn a Mercedes into a Rolls Royce.
Yah I can appreciate that but I dunno for me he didn't work, not sure, he also kinda lacked chemistry with both leading actresses.

Maybe thats intentional and maybe he intentionally acted this way to make me hat whim, which if so, he has succeeded.

I mean look at Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain in TTOL, they had such a strong chemistry and worked so well together, the romantic and close scenes and even the argumentative destructive scenes.

No need to get sore. They just don't look like ants. They're beetles.

First of all, I am not sore. They are insects invading a picnic. I have never heard of beetles invading a picnic.

Cuaron was at Criterion a few months ago in their closet. So maybe he's finalized or starting to finalize his 'approvements' with Criterion on the title?

I've never heard of anthropomorphic raisins dancing on the beach either.

I totally agree with your post. I really enjoyed all of Malick's films except To The Wonder because I felt the characters were kind of bland and emotionless, especially Ben Affleck. Many of the themes Malick present in the film were better developed in The New World.

The only saving grace of the film is it's beautiful cinematography and imagery.

You are right Shell. I studied entomology in college; they appear to be from the order coleoptera and not Hymenoptera.

The beetles have to be A Hard Day's Night. It's the only one of the Beatles films not owned by Apple Corps. Lionsgate would have released their own edition by now since nearly all of the Miramax library is already out and it already had a complete restoration. The 2004 DVD is easily one of the best DVD encodes I've seen for a film.

If that's the case, that bodes well for other "MIA" titles from Miramax like El Cid, Like Water for Chocolate, and The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, & Her Lover (the last of which was one Criterion tried to get a while back).

They say entomology is a rapidly expanding field.
