You guys took all my movies lol! Maybe it's a sign from god to watch the ten I have back logged here.
Wow, you waited too long today to order. At what time did you attempt a purchase for the flash sale?

Well, here's what I NEARLY was going to buy during the flash sale.... until the Kaurismaki title went out of stock.. so I decided to just wait until the next 50% sale rather than buy a different title.

LA VIE DE BOHÈME (Blu-ray)
IF.... (Blu-ray)
THE FIRE WITHIN (DVD)

It would have been a nice, modest purchase.... but I really go for the B&N sales for big hauls.

I had the same issue. I was at work until 7, and didn't learn about it 'til I got home. By that point, what would have been my first choices were already gone. I did manage to get a few I'd been holding off on for a while, though:

Charulata
Life Is Sweet
Shock Corridor

I seem to have Quadrophenia on my mind right now, and I came close to ordering it, but I'm still not sure if it's one I really wanted to own. Might just rent it again, see if I like it better on a second viewing.
I had the UK release of Quad but after seeing the Criterion I bought that and sold the UK release if it's picture / audio quality you're thinking of

Our review for Persona will be up late tonight.

Fans of the film are in for a special treat. The new 2K restoration looks terrific

Usually Criterion.com has these flash sales every February and September/October. B&N will have their 50% sale in July, so that's probably the next big one.

Really looking forward to this. I ordered it from dvdworldusa cost more than I usually pay but it's worth it. Plus I should receive 2 or 3 weeks before the US street date.

It's July for the B&N 50% off sale. I think they usually have a 40% off or B2G1F offer before that.

Does DVDworld tend to ship out earlier than the actual release date then? Im uk and amazon and can only order on day of release :/

Whats your experience with DVDworld for criterions? do they come good condition and fast?

Yes they do, if they get the stock early of course which they generally do. They posted yesterday on twitter that their shipping George Washington. Which isn't out in the US until the 11th of March.

I've only used them twice, they're good no item damages and reasonable delivery times 4-7 working days generally but with all retailers it can be longer.

(It's Criterion-related because Juliette Binoche stars in the movie, of course.)
I'm looking forward to it with a mixture of excitement and wariness. I absolutely loved Gareth Edwards' Monsters, and I think he'll approach Godzilla with good intent. What makes me wary, though, is that Edwards was astonishingly creative in how he got around a miniscule budget on Monsters, and I'm afraid that if he has an umpteen godzillion dollar budget, he'll lose some of his creativity and just throw money at the problem.

But after seeing this trailer, I have to say that it'll at least look great.

That's great news! I can't wait to read it, and to get a copy. Hopefully they will continue to release Bergman films regularly.

New trailer put me off with the CGI, just seems really fake and obvious CGI, but thats a personal gripe, the first trailer was much better and sold it to me.

I just hope the big budget doesn't make it feel like a typical film made for money if that makes sense - Monsters was fantastic and I loved that you didn't really see many of the monsters, made it more mysterious and because he was on a very tight budget he made use of everything so well.

Yep, yep, and yep.

I actually think the script seems pretty neat from what I've seen in the trailer. I liked how they used these nuclear tests to suggest something else & how they referred to the classic film as an earlier attack. I have faith that this movie will at least be above average.

The cast is loaded with unusual action stars.

I think I'm most excited about Elizabeth Olsen, only seen her in a couple roles but she's always performed so well, probably best in Martha Marcy May Marlene - surprising as her sisters were so bad haha.
