It was quite good!
What I love about The Big Chill is the editing and the way the way the music propels the story from one scene to the next. There's some good dialogue and ensemble acting, but this movie really came together in the editing room.

Definitely in for Pickpocket and Insomnia (though I have the original DVDs of both). And especially the Demy set. I'm a little bummed that they aren't releasing the Tati set this month, but the Demy will go a long way to making me feel better.

The Big Chill and Scanners I'll get eventually, but I'm in no hurry.

I am glad for fans, but Scanners is about a guy who can make heads explode...low grade Sci-fi at that. Reading the press release, it seems they are describing a cinematic masterpiece .

On the + really excited about the Jacques Remy box set and Pickpocket .

I'm headed to FYE with a fat stack of trades tonight...all of these are upgrades for me. Big Chill, Scanners, Insomnia, and Pickpocket added to the trade stack; Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Young Girls of Rochefort headed to eBay.

So, if anyone wants just the Umbrellas of Cherbourg, he can't have it, right?

Sounds like you got that 'they're all very good/great films, yes all of them' bit in just in the nick of time

I wonder if something else fell through? Looks like they weren't planning on releasing The Big Chill quite yet.

If you would know me, you would be aware that I very consistent at being proven wrong . I will not blur the issue though...Scanners is a cash grab...plain and simple. Heck, I will be buying it at some point.

If you're referring to the spine number gap, that's not the case. The six films in the Jacques Demy set have individual spine numbers (714-719).

Why push through a rush release with bare bones? Money grabbing muppets... Yeah I love the Qatsi films too, have them on DVD, I bet they look awesome on blu, Samsara is awesome too..

I am still stuck on Criterion, there are many Criterions I have on dvd.. Do I play safe or blind buy on a film..

Umm, holy wow. My favorite Bresson upgraded, new Cronenberg in the collection and a jaw dropping Jacques Demy set. That box set seriously looks overwhelming. My favorite announcement yet.

Insomnia and The Big Chill also sound quite fascinating, but the lack of supplements on both is very disappointing.
