I'll still look at other Studios etc. Maybe for overseas customers the deals are still decent.

I'll see if I can seek out some of the songs you mentioned. I might know the tune, but not the name.
I'm sure you can sample them at iTunes or Amazon. I usually listen to "60s on 6" on Sirius XM radio, and have a list of songs that I need to get for my iTunes library that I never got around to getting on CD back in the day.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

I purchased my copy on release and it worked fine, then several years later started suffering from the freezing problem described on CF. I emailed Criterion about it and was able to get a replacement copy without having to send mine in. Criterion have excellent customer service and they've never left me high and dry.

I purchased my copy of Walkabout about a month ago and it played just fine for me...no freezing whatsoever.

I just finished reading “Blazing Guns on the Chisholm Trail” by Borden Chase, and I'm really looking forward to watching Red River tomorrow to see how the film adaptation compares with this novella.

The novella is a quick read, and could probably be plowed through in one long sitting, but I pieced it out over a busy couple of days. It's a superb Criterion supplement.

Seems none are on Hulu unfortunately. Imitation of Life is on Netflix, however… Interestingly, avocados are my single favourite food! Perhaps there's more to your analogy than it first appears...

Same here..initially played flawlessly, then the freezing issues started. Got a replacement and all is good.

Between June 12 and June 13, TCM is having a Rock Hudson marathon. Included in the marathon are the three Douglas Sirk Criterion films - All That Heaven Allows, Magnificent Obsession, and Written On The Wind.

All three are phenomenal, so you guys may want to check them out!

Went on a bidding spree - Ebay is amazing for Criterions for UK haha

Lola Montes
Kuroneko
Branded To Kill
Naked
If....
The Four Feathers
Solaris (Upgrade)

Think I paid £10-£13 per film as it was bidding Very excited though as I wanted some of these for a while now so nice to have them - Love the artwork for Kuroneko and the weird effect the ghost figure has on cover.

The Four Feathers was a good movie and I LOVED Branded to Kill. I honestly got bored with Solaris and haven't seen the rest. Sounds like you snagged them for a good price (I'm assuming, have no idea what they normally run for people across the pond).

Usually they are around £20-£25, maybe £18 if lucky

Not really seen/heard much about Four Feathers but was a good price so couldn't resist or hurt to try it and never been let down with a blind buy yet :P - and has some great thing said about it.

I think Solaris is great but not perfect not is it Tarkovskys best film (which for me is The Mirror), but has some breathtaking moments and a lot to appreciate, and has Bach's Chorale Prelude In F Minor "Ich Ruf'zu Dir, Herr Jesu Christ", BWV 639 which is INCREDIBLE.

But yeah excited to see it on Blu as only seen DVD and Dvdbeaver screen comparison look pretty nice

I haven't seen Lola Montes or The Four Feathers, but I've seen the rest.

Solaris (all-time favorite) > Naked (great film; very deep) > If... (it's okay) > Kuroneko (it's decent) > Branded To Kill (I was bored with it)

Ive only seen Solaris so can't say much about the rest :P

I wanted more Criterion horror/ghost films and this seemed great (trailer ha d abi tot cheese but oh well lol).

If... look every exciting for me and can't wait to delve into it .

Branded to Kill is only something I've recently wanted and sounded interesting but no idea how it will play out, same with Lola - only seen the trailer and a few screen grabs and looks visually stunning but yeah don't know much about it lol.

If... was not very exciting, in my opinion. There were a few decent sections, but overall I was disappointed. Also, if you've seen Tokyo Drifter (I disliked it), then you will have an idea about what to expect from Branded To Kill.

Nah not seen Tokyo Drifter :P

I am surprised though with If... - it won Palm D'or and I've never been let down by Cannes Film Festival yet (though their recent selection was a bit meh...).

Will have to let you know what I think though ^-^
