I picked up quite a few this weekend:
Yojimbo/Sanjuro In the Mood For Love Three Outlaw Samurai Cronos When Horror Came to Shochiku(Eclipse) I was looking for The Naked Kiss thanks to a recommendation from some posters here, but my B&N did not have it in stock, so I asked them to order it, along with Shock Corridor. I'll pick those up along with Scanners next weekend, and hope I have the restraint to leave it at those three. So a fun question for everybody, what are the 5 Criterion films you'd like to see upgraded to BluRay the most? Here's my list: 1. Sword of Doom 2. Dead Ringers 3. Blood for Dracula 4. The Human Condition 5. Le Samourai Wow, that was harder to narrow down than I thought. |

Hopscotch Night Train to Munich Thieves' Highway Green for Danger Don't have a 5th yet, but I did order 3 DVD's in the sale that should be here hopefully tomorrow. 1 of those might be #5. If his work holds up, I can see Suzuki's Youth of the Beast or Melville's Le Deuxičme Souffle occupying that 5th slot. |

If we're making wishlists for October, then I'll throw in a nomination for Jacques Tourneur's Night of the Demon/Curse of the Demon. Since we're getting Out of the Past released from Warner Archive apparently in the near future, let's put another Tourneur film in the fold for good measure. Night of the Demon/Curse of the Demon has a French Blu-ray release that is supposed to be pretty good, so I know that a high definition transfer is out there.
Of course, The Vanishing cannot be upgraded soon enough. I'm really looking forward to replacing my DVD. |

And these are titles that must be considered in the collection:
McCabe & Mrs. Miller The Gospel According to St. Matthew Symphonie Pastorale Blow-Up -- I'd rather this one added before L'Avventura is upgraded Raise the Red Lantern --OR-- Farewell, My Concubine --OR-- Huo Zhe (To Live) -- Chinese cinema The Offence --OR-- The Hill (Sidney Lumet/Sean Connery collaboration) And, as I argued earlier, a Kathryn Bigelow film: Near Dark, Zero Dark Thirty, or Strange Days Last edited by fahrenheit290; 07-14-2014 at 01:35 AM. |

I'm watching Polanski's Macbeth through Amazon Instant Video right now (before I commit myself to the blind purchase) and I got a good kick out of seeing Playboy's own, Hugh Hefner, listed as the executive producer in the opening credits.
