I don't really know why I do this. Part of me thinks it will prevent damage to the pages. Plus, if you unfold the DigiPack and the essay ends up face-up on the left side, you can open and read it easier.

Does anyone else leave the plastic wrap on and just cut out the side that the pack slides out of? Looks kinda' crappy on the shelf and you have to be careful sliding the plastic in and out or it peels back but it keeps the dust off and you can keep the stickers on.

That is a pretty good idea, even if it is a bit tedious for me.

I do something similar, though, with the items I sell on the forums. Whenever I decide to get rid of a movie, I dust it and place it in a zip-lock bag and keep it stored until it sells.

Tell me about it. When I got my care package from my daughter, which was mostly digipacks, I spent a long time with my package surgery.

Those counts are according to Criterion.com. I obtained them by viewing the blu-ray section in "no page style". It then shows how many films each director has on blu.

Looking it that way, the 9th you counted was the Yojimbo/Sanjuro set. It's listed that way, and again as individual titles

A rewatch of Modern Times just now pretty much established it as my favorite Charlie Chaplin film.

Charlie Chaplin was a special person and his survival story is something incredible. He knew what it was like to struggle and we can see his concerns for the poor and the working class in his unique film catalogue. Furthermore, his character of The Little Tramp is a symbol for anyone with aspirations for making ends meet and having difficulty along the way.

I watched the Taiwanese classic film Yi Yi last night for the first time. It's amazing how tiny the Taiwan New Wave industry was, only lasting a few years and now its completely dead, at least according to the 2006 interview from Tony Rayns. Yi Yi was a very realistic film and I loved that Yang shot it in synch-sound. Does anyone else like this film too? It garnered rave reviews when it was originally released. My only criticism was that it was a bit too long and somewhat hard to understand the English spoken in the film.

Kes is the second coming-of-age film that I have watched in the past two days (the other being My Life as a Dog, which I didn't particularly care for mostly due to the characters) and I took to it almost immediately.

At its core, the film is about a poor, bullied boy growing up in working class London who finds refuge in his newly found hawk, who he trains and names Kes. I do not want to give away too much, but I will say this - it's an incredibly emotional film in the sense of having an outlet for escaping from the hardships of everyday life and finding pleasure in such a tranquil pastime.

The acting is excellent, the cinematography is gorgeous, and the story is very relatable. I hope more people get to see this film.

I watched Yi Yi for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I loved every second of it. It's so beautiful.

I watched Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! last night and liked it quite a bit even though it deals (humorously) with a very sensitive issue, especially for the NFL, right now. I was watching it on Hulu Plus and let it run into the next feature-Ano Bisiesto aka Leap Year which was a dark film that also had a twisted romance at it's core but nothing funny about this one. It was repellent; yet fascinating, at the same time. I was just glad it didn't play out like I thought it would.
