At least Shout is very active at releasing blu-rays. The main criticism with them is they seem to focus more on extras and interviews than the actual presentation of the film, but they at least do a pretty solid job.

StudioCanal on the other hand, took back that catalog of films and then barely bothered releasing any of them. I'm not sure that will happen here, but it's probably not as bad as what happened with the StudioCanal situation (which was basically a total failure to anyone interested in those films).

True, but Leon Morin Priest issued July 26, 2011 OOP Mar 31, 2013. CC doesn't generally publish the terms of their licensing deals, so it's kind of difficult to tell when it's up. Godzilla, for instance was issued Jan 24, 2012, if get a full three years (the "typical" license deal) of distribution, that's up this coming January and Stagecoach was issued in 2010, so, worst case scenario is that we would be looking at a list of titles all going "OOP" with, like Leon Morin, roughly 3 days notice.
Personally, I think Shout is just looking at the income from broadcast and streaming, but their statements do not preclude the possibility that they will also be looking at home video revenue. If I didn't already have the titles I wanted from this list, I'd be sure to pick them up at 50% off, YMMV of course.

Is Criterion going to make an announcement regarding the Eraserhead replacement disc or should we just mail them back with our name and a write up?

I'm definitely interested to see this one and also The Innocents.

Bad news / Good news: the bad is that my library appears to be only purchasing the Criterion DVDs moving forward now that the dual-format experiment is over.

the good news is that at least they have added these two to their library, so I'll have a chance to check them out.

I think SUNDAYS is one of their most interesting releases of the year. I'm struggling to think of a better blind buy that I've picked up this year, that's for sure.

hmm... ok. well, I fancy your tastes quite a bit, so I'll give it some thought. my best blind buy so far this year would be Rififi, but then there's quite a bit I haven't seen, so a lot falls into the category of a blind buy.

looking fwd to the year end polls!! a lot of good titles this year and some great presentations, too.

I almost purchased Sundays and Cybele today from Movie Stop, but decided to hold out for a Flash Sale, if there is one coming. It was tough not to pull the trigger, though.

Instead, I bought Krull, Cold in July, and Once Upon a Time in America (Extended Director's Cut).

Could anyone grab a screenshot from the Criterion release, that matches one of these here from the French edition?
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Les-P...3/#Screenshots
(preferably one with a close shot, eg. the 2nd one)

I wanted to see what is the difference between the 2, because i wouldn't like to get the Criterion box.
And I already saw that the UK edition is inferior to the Criterion:

For years I have hoped that someone would pick this up and improve on the horrible release in the UK, and I really wished for it to be Criterion, without really believing it.

I don't pre-order Criterions anymore, ever since the whole Children of Paradise fiasco. But, man, I am keeping my finger crossed they will do this justice.

Easily my favorite Nic Roeg.
