Id love to see more recent film in collection - off top of my head films like La Vie En Rose, Perfect Sense, Dans Ma Peau, Amour, Babel or 21 Grams - and for fun Dogtooth.

Also would love Possession added, incredible cinema.

Oh and if Criterion can get Visitor Q in collection on bluray - that would be AWESOME. How is Takeshi Miike not in collection? haha!

That's what it must be because if you look closely, you can see that those images are captioned. If that's what it is, I hope it shows not just the art, but for the special packages (like Seven Samurai), I hope it shows images of the packaging as well. Although I don't think I'd be willing to pay a lot of money for such a book.

Theres a few images I don't recognise so I am hoping they will include alternate proofs of the artwork and different design ideas - Sam Smith put on his blog his alternate designs fro Qatsi Trilogy and they are gorgeous - Fingers crossed eh!

Only downside is newer releases won't be in there but they can also do a second edition in like 10-15 years lol! But some incredible design in the collection and I am so happy those designers are getting the spotlight and recognition!

Great news. I bought the Artificial Eye release recently and while the transfer is great the supplements are lacking. Here's hoping C are going to do it justice.

about Lynch... The Elephant Man is coming soon... from somebody. how do I know? just a theory, but HD streams seem to appear on Netflix not too long before a blu-ray release. with that being said, Andrey Zvyagintsev's The Return should be coming from somewhere, too. I saw it earlier this year and it has really stuck with me - beautiful and heartbreaking. great Criterion fodder if they so choose to pursue it.

I don't think it has any bearing on that image - that image (TMWFTE) illustrated the book that came with the DVD copy of TMWFTE, indicating a fresh print run (for a re-release). Unless you mean the picture itself was meant for inclusion in this new Criterion book - which isn't impossible, but would be a pretty poor tease on Criterion's part.

[Show spoiler]when people leave us due to unfortunate circumstances, those left behind mourning tend to torture ourselves with the need to know - what were the last few moments of his/her life like? what did they do through? what were they thinking? we need to have "closure." to me, the film works tremendously well because 1) the killer confronting the Rex at the midpoint of the film is the cinematic equivalent to the meatiest hook you've ever heard in the greatest of pop songs. it is so unexpected that, for me, my interest level in where the story was heading shot through the roof. and.. 2) the killer knows that people absolutely have to have "closure." for his next victim, he doesn't prey upon the fact that, for example, a certain woman always parks her car on a dark street and walks a long distance to the front door of her home, he preys upon this element of human suffering. THAT is terrifying! a complete mindf**k.

how badly do you want to know? well, if you do as I tell you, I promise you - you will know... and the killer kept his promise. Rex found out. **chills**

Why on earth would Criterion release Eyes Wide Shut?

They hardly release WB films as it is, so why would they waste that opportunity on a re-release of something that has already been re-released to death?

They have re-released plenty of films before...Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Brazil etc...so why not Eyes Wide Shut? Great film from a great master. It's a prestige title.

Also with Warner releasing a Kubrick box set (which includes Eyes Wide Shut) this November, it seems even less likely.

The Return is, IMO, one of the top 5 films of the past 15 years. To me, it screams "Criterion" but we shall see.
