Default Time For What Counts

What counts for me, specific to Criterion's mission and related catalog, is the 4K restoration above the disc format and related HDR pass.

But that's just me, and not to say I don't love me some HDR eye candy for my digital/CGI guilty pleasures.

They stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and it shows every month when we get the same crowd who on start about 4K on chord failing to realize it's a small niche inside a small niche market of BluRay.

Probably the main reason why I've stuck to buying this label second hand or through deals far surpassing the deals featured during the B&N sales. I can wait...
Apologies for copy pasting from the December Announcements on the main page but go figure.
I didn't know I was still in high school with all this drama.

Arrow Video's sales on their website are far superior in price compared to both B&N and Criterion 'sales' theirselves. Much greater than 50%.
No wonder why I own more from that label compared to this one. Another gripe is why don't they use reversable coverart with the cinematic poster for their Scanavo releases? Not everyone is vying for the hipster revisionist 'artwork' they've been commissioning. Glad custom cover arts are available which reflect that.
At least I have a perfect reason not to buy Criterions release of Dr. Strangelove because of .

Criterion will do just fine without your business . Not everything will be released in 4K, time to except that. Also, you can usually get a Criterion BD from $20-$27, if you think that’s too expensive then I don’t know what to tell you. I didn’t buy the 4K release of Parasite but you better believe I’ll be picking the Criterion release.

Imagine entering a Criterion thread with the sole purpose of crapping on the label.

Yes, criticisms when justified are warranted and fine, but when that's the only thing you're posting, well...

Yeah, I'm kinda surprised at the number of people who took the bait. Like wtf does "hipster revisionist artwork" even mean? It just sounds like a bunch of buzzwords.

I'd literally direct deposit my paycheck directly into criterion's bank account if my employer would allow it. They can charge me triple and I'd still be down. Im all in. Opposers can go eat a bag of hair.

Slow news day, I guess.

I don't love every single Criterion cover, but I always admire the thought and care put into them.

I occassionaly buy Criterions in between the 50% off sales, but it is pretty rare. Between unwatched blus, the Criterion Channel and Tubi, I have enough to keep me busy between sales.

You consider me to be a troll in regards to my post regarding their titles with a 4K source? Well, glad I didn't mention some of their faults regarding compression and encoding. Never did I mention I'll stop buying their titles outright.
Typical Criterion fanboy reaction whomst can't take any criticism regarding their elite label on select points.

Actually, there has been plenty of criticism of Criterion in this thread - including recently about 4K. I also recall heated discussion about compression/encoding in the past. I don't think anyone here has a problem with any of those valid points being brought up. What you're doing, however, is entering a Criterion thread specifically to criticize and for no other reason. Not very interesting or informative.

LOL "absurd price gouging"... says some young dude that doesn't realize VHS and LaserDisc often cost $100. Also someone who's never worked in film or film restoration and apparently thinks its all done for free, because he definitely has no idea about cost of restorations or even licensing, for that matter. Not to mention, the several 50% off sales every year. Funny stuff to get attention.

I disagree with Admiral Noodle's logic as well... and in fact, I'd still buy Criterions if they RAISED the MSRP on their blu-ray titles, because no matter what they do, I'll always be a Criterion lover for life.

To be frank this is as bad as his logic. People respect a label or organization for doing a certain kind of thing which gives a certain kind of benefit. If tomorrow, they turn around and do something else, like say making a colorized version of Passion of Joan of Arc, what reason would be there to love them? I know that's a far-fetched and unlikely situation, but just to say that blind adulation is as harmful as petulant and wilful fault-finding.

Arrow has the UK rights whereas Criterion have the US rights to it (but haven't released it yet).

Actually they have kinda raised their prices. 3 film box sets used to be MSRP $79.99 and now they are MSRP $99.99.
