What a bizarre movie...!

The movie in general made much more sense after watching the interview with the director.

Best way I can describe it is a Scream movie written by Looney Tunes then directed by Terry Gilliams.

Today I received all my DeepDiscount sale Criterion BDs, and it's really a mixed bag as far as confition goes: half of them looked decent and with the blue sticker, half of them without the sticker and with the cheap form-less shrinkwrap. One had the insert quite crooked. They literally look like they come from a sale bin.
It's a bit of a downer as a part of the pleasure in buying these is seeing them all shiny and new in their shiny wrap and sticker.

Just so you are aware, not every Criterion has the "folded corner" cellophane wrap and/or blue sticker. Not even when ordered direct. It's been discussed many times before - especially in the B&N sale threads, where some remain convinced "tight" shrinkwrap and/or no sticker is evidence of a "rewrap" by B&N (i.e., a returned product).

For anyone interested, the artist on the upcoming release of The Elephant Man posted some shots of the packaging on Twitter:

Yep, totally aware, i recall the posts and I myself have some, but in this case many are missing the sticker and have other dubious attributes ,)

You can see the handful of titles that are sticker-orphans

I suppose we would all have our own definition of "dubious attributes." The lack of stickers and the type of wrapping aside (which are not proof of anything), what makes you think these are not brand new?

On the upside, you picked up some great titles.

(Just got Season 3 of Killing Eve myself, which I thoroughly enjoyed even if many seemed not to).

Crash is already on 4K via the German turbine release. I got the mediabook last week. Extras are better IMO & I already have the eXistenZ Turbine mediabook. Plus that cover

Funny, I came on here to ask about my Insomnia blu that was shrinkwrapped - a first for me - I know it's the real deal as I bought it in the criterion sale but just never encountered one like it before

This is good to know. My 12 Angry Men from a couple of years ago had weird wrapping but did have the blue sticker (I think). I was unsure but it was the only one in the store, so I got it anyway.

So today I got:
  • A Matter of Life & Death
  • Following
  • Insomnia
  • Belle de Jour
  • Scanners
  • War of the Worlds
  • Rebecca
Gonna watch Following first as that's the only Nolan film I've yet to see

Why doesn't Alice doesn't live here anymore have any blu-ray release, nevermind a criterion?

So excited for this month's Criterion Channel announcements. So much Korean/Horror titles. Pumped as hell to rewatch all of them again and especially watching Videodrome for the first time.

That would be amazing news. Been ages since I last watched that film.

Oh man, can you post a link?

I'm seeing so many tweets about the October lineup, but I can't find any links to it. This seems to happen every month.

That is because they send the info out the press before sending the email to the subscribers. Here is a letterboxd list of October's new titles
