I imagine the same applies to replacement discs
I received my replacement copy of Walkabout in July of this year and they were working remotely then too. As a result, they cannot ship individual replacement components (booklets, replacement cases, discs, etc.) like they normally would, however, they just sent me a brand new sealed copy of the movie because that ships from the same warehouse in Kentucky where Deep Discount, WowHD, etc. ship their items from, so I'm sure they will just do the same for you.

Saw Diamonds of the Night, the 1964 debut feature of Czech director Jan Nemec. At 68 min, the film barely scrapes into that definition. Adapting a novel by trimming it to its bare minimum, Nemec depicts the harrowing ordeal of two Jewish lads escaped from a train carrying them to a concentration camp. When the film begins we see them running through the countryside in a terrific long tracking shot. The film goes back and forth in time, creating a distinct non-linear rhythm more akin to a feverish memory or dream, and some of the incidents, like when one of them attacks a housewife or when they are shot at by a bunch of old hunters, may perhaps be occurring only in their heads. In that sense, it has a tenuous connection to the famous 1962 French short Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. Nemec's film is certainly very admirable, although the non-linear structure and fractured editing patterns make the subjects more distant dramatically, and I felt less emotionally involved with their plight.

I watched the film on the Second Run DVD I had got long back as part of a Czech New Wave pack (also containing Ivan Passer's Intimate Lighting and Juraj Herz's The Cremator, also excellent films). While I still have my reservations I suspect I am eventually going to upgrade to either the Criterion or Second Run blu-ray release of this film, which contain a 4K restored version of the film and other Nemec shorts and interview material.

I would love it, I missed out on the Eureka release, I still have to watch this even though I own the UK DVD from the Sirk set.

Has anybody heard rumblings about the Flash sale being tomorrow? I'm finalizing my buy list, just in case.

I don't know if it's true, but I recall people saying that they often time the sale around their biggest release of the month. For this month, that would be Parasite, which comes out on the 27th.

edit: I guess their Feb. sale showed that's not always the case, as Roma came out on Feb. 11th, but the sale was on the 25th, the same day as their most expensive release Three Fantastic Journeys by Karel Zeman. So who knows .

Yeah, I was thinking it would be either the 25th, or tomorrow with Pierrot le fou getting re-issued after being out of print. That's a bigger deal to me, for now, as I already have the first Parasite blu, and while I'll buy the Criterion for the extras, ones I don't have take priority over double dips.

None whatsoever.

Based on the past few years, it would seem to be too early in the month.

2019 - 15th
2018 - 16th
2017 - 17th

Seeing as that pattern suggests the third Tuesday in October, I expect the flash sale to be live on October 20th this year.

The only time I've had a problem with those was when my order exceeded the amount on the card and I tried to stack it on one order with my existing Visa card. Didn't end up being a big deal, just had to split the order in two.

Does the flash sale usually start right away at midnight or does it start at a later time of the day?

I'm hoping for a late October/early November flash sale. October is a good month and the more titles included the better!

Pre-orders aren't included, right? I have to have that Fellini set in my life. But MSRP is pretty steep.

For me, it was the resolution to the movie's story;
[Show spoiler] that out of this grey, bleak world that Andrei Rublev lived in, sprang forth this beautiful, colorful, glorifying, and inspiring art. Tarkovsky gives us nearly ten minutes of the finest works of Rublev's oeuvre.

That was beautiful, thank you. I first saw this movie a few months ago and was spellbound although story-wise I couldn't follow it. I agree it is a masterwork but I have to see it again soon to pay closer attention to the narrative.
[Show spoiler] There is a very long village attack scene that was hard for me to watch. It actually made me feel disgusted. In the story I don't know who these men were that murdered everyone and why.
