And just to be 100% clear, the shorter version on the Criterion blu-ray has a more recent scan than the longer version which doesn't look as good?

I wonder if we will get an announcement of the next wave of Netflix titles or if they will just show up in 2021. There are still a few from the first press release that have not made it yet.

All this to say I’m really looking forward to I’m Thinking Of Ending Things and eventually Mank.

I know a lot of people aren't a fan of this but I really missed some of those easter eggs in the earlier Criterion DVDs and some of their Blu-rays. Such a cool feature in my opinion but only if the easter egg isn't anything important so something like a music video (Like the one in In the Mood for Love!) would be a good easter egg. I know a lot of people don't like it but I really like seeing some of these.

Im pretty sure I've used a VISA Vanilla card on CCs site before but like you say, the total has to be less than the amount available on the card. You can't use two different cards on one order

It's a good question though cause I use these sometimes and there are sites they don't work on (like Bullmoose). Just make sure you register your zip code on the card first to be safe.

I'm in for the next flash sale but kind of hope it's not tomorrow as I need some more funds first.

Criterion

Even though past history suggests otherwise, I really am hoping that the flash sale is today. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed the drought of recent sales? I think that Criterion could make a killing today. A lot of posters have suggested that the sale might occur later in the month, but I think that would be too close to the Barnes and Noble sale (if there is one.)

Which Netflix? I still use this one, which is the better of the two. Many titles are on there but still only DVD. There's only so many my queue can take!

I’m getting up in a little under four hours, just in case. Eek, I need to be asleep. I was just watching The Great Buster, and lost track of the time. Fantastic documentary that really has me Jonesing to watch The Cameraman.

I need to finish my Chaplin, Lloyd and Keaton features collection (keeping in mind that some of Keaton’s films have just received remasters). Then, I need to start on their shorts collections.

Yes. The short version is from a newer 2K scan from Mosfilm, while the longer version is from a scan of Martin Scorsese's personal print.

[Show spoiler] There is a very long village attack scene that was hard for me to watch. It actually made me feel disgusted. In the story I don't know who these men were that murdered everyone and why.
The

of the finale represents the
[Show spoiler]blossoming of Rublev's art after resolving the crisis of faith he underwent following the Tatar raid and various other atrocities he had witnessed or taken part in. The film is about reconciling one's faith in a glorious, elevated vision of an omnipotent God and the salvation of man with the horrifying realities of life transpiring here on Earth under his watch. After he killed a man during the raid on the city, he no longer felt worthy of being God's "instrument", so he stopped painting and speaking for many years. When he witnesses the miracle of Boriska's bell, his faith is restored in his own and man's redemption. Rublev's vivid, striking works showcased at the end represent his rapturous glorification of God's grace touching humanity.

The invaders were the combined forces of the Tatar peoples from the east, who frequently plundered the city, and the ambitious brother of the ruling Prince, whom was away from the city at the time

Next Tuesday is prime day...They don't have a lot of sale on movies, but it will still compete for the money in the wallet...

Yeah, Prime Day has proven pretty much a non-event for me for this reason.

I think OP is wondering if there will be another press release announcing future titles to be released by Criterion as part of their deal with Netflix. Along with Marriage Story and Irishman, Atlantics and American Factory were announced in a press release for this year, didn't quite come to fruition but they should still be on the way, same as the WKW Boxset. I don't know if they were officially announced in the same manner as Marriage Story/Irishman/Atlantics/American Factory, but it seems widely accepted that The Other Side of the Wind, They'll Love Me When I'm Dead, and Rolling Thunder Revue will be coming to Criterion sooner rather than later as well.

OP was hoping at a minimum, for soft announcements that Mank and I'm Thinking of Ending Things will be coming to Criterion, in advance of a hard announcement with a street date.

Honestly don't really care about streaming or digital. If a title from Criterion is available to rent from proper original Netflix, which has been around since 1998, I'll add it to my queue. Be it DVD or Blu-ray disc. Only using Amazon Prime for their shipping and nothing else.

Take a beat. I’m asking about Netflix originals being released by Criterion.

BUT would those Streaming releases on OG Netflix have the Criterion discs if those Netflix Streaming titles were released by Criterion?
The Irishman says Save to Queue so, dunno and hoping it might.

Unfortunately, Netflix disc service stopped offering new CC titles on blu-ray awhile ago now. One of the main reasons I kept it for so long (I don't stream either). But that, along with delivery times going way up, finally got me to cancel.

My pipe dream is a disc-by-mail rental service that offered all CC, Kino, Arrow, VS, etc. releases available on blu-ray/UHD. Probably not going to happen at this point.

I'm going to check titles on there to see which of them use the Criterion cover or not. Might even get lucky to rent them, but who knows?

I do remember that disc rental service similar to Blockbuster and Netflix where they offered many different region titles to rent. They went away long ago and were a great concept. Never rented anything from them but I wish I had.

Went into my local B&N yesterday to grab some coffee and decided to go browse over some Criterion with no intention of buying anything but came across Thief and Blow Out both on Blu $25 each... Always wanted to pick these up years ago but I guess other priorities elsewhere had got me sidetracked and I forgot about them. I bought both of them immediately. I say that was a pretty good score.

Also, it was unusual cause there was no sale going on and I had seen a lot of other older or OOP Criterion releases on Blu-ray and DVD on the shelf. I don't go to B&N all that often unless I'm looking for something particular or to grab coffee and I never seen the Criterion shelves stocked plentiful with some really great gems. I suspect there were boxes in the back sitting forever who knows how long, but then again my local B&N has a lot of older employees working at the registers and millennials working in the cafe.

This is exactly the reason I left Netflix a while ago too. Saved tons of money on renting CC releases and other indie labels that I was on the fence about. I guess someone figured that out and refused to supply Netflix anymore, who knows. That's when I cancelled.
