Active B&N membership and the 10% wasn’t applying. The clerk had to add the discount manually. Not sure if this was a fluke but just an FYI to everyone

Glad to hear that Unobstructed View is updating their site but I'm still waiting for my Flash Sale order to be shipped, even though it's been over 2 weeks!

I’ve had some employees use coupons. It’s not guaranteed but you can sometime get a nice employee.

Anyone here have any strong thoughts on The Gunfighter?

I’m sure it’s a good movie, but does it have a lot of replay value?

...this would be a Stevie Wonder for me..

For all the Canadians, Unobstructed View is now having their own Criterion sale.

I just picked up The Great Escape and the Bruce Lee set, and did not get my membership discount. No biggie, but it feels good they are keeping the CC sales coming... Looking forward to about 3 more trips.

I've got an interesting DP.

I've just started the extensive process of upgrading all of my DVDs to BRs and have been waiting for this sale to buy the Criterions, as I was planning to buy a ton of titles. I saw a month or so ago that a new B&N membership perk was a one-time 20% off coupon, but that's no longer appearing on the membership page.

I called B&N today and the woman I spoke said that it hasn't been "officially" removed as a perk, and that she could manually add it after I placed my order. I then asked if it would work alongside the Criterion sale. She checked the T&C for the sale and said that nothing showed on her end that would restrict it.

I ended up ordering 40 films for an original total (incl. tax + $25 membership) for $914.12, and that 20% coupon knocked $183.22 off.

Hope this might help some of you out who aren't current members!

Several pricematches on Amazon also have additional coupon savings that can be clipped. The Ingmar Berman set has an additional $18 off for instance.

I did a blind rental of it & loved it so much that just bought it.

The structure, editing & camera language is fantastic, and worthy of multiple viewing for me on those notes alone. Much more of a psychological western than I thought it would be, and I mean that in a good way.

I would say it's 80-90% as good as High Noon and 3:10 to Yuma, so if you like those at all...

I don't know but the cowboy continuously calling Gregory Peck "Mr. Frazzlebottom" hasn't gotten old yet.

I've never really tried getting into it, but I'm very interested in Classic Hollywood. Any good beginner titles from Criterion I can pick up in the sale?

My personal recommendations for some pre-"New Hollywood":
[Show spoiler]Ace in the Hole
A Face in the Crowd
The Great Escape
Kiss Me Deadly
The Manchurian Candidate
The Night of the Hunter
Notorious
Sweet Smell of Success
