Not released. They’ve had a tendency to not release movies by the same filmmaker multiple months in the year. It should’ve been released at the same time as Parasite. But they might’ve hoped to have shown the restoration in theaters before a disc release.

On the subject of Polanski again, I just have to say that so much of his later body of work is highly rewatchable and thoroughly entertaining (Frantic is a perfect example of this - and I also find The Ninth Gate pretty entertaining too even though
[Show spoiler] ). History will be the final judge of how film scholars and viewers see Polanski decades from now long after his death.

I hope Criterion does a release of Toho's 1961 tokusatsu anti-war drama The Last War.
It's one of their best films but unfortunately, it has been mostly forgotten, despite getting referenced in Metal Gear Solid 3 and the film having been pillaged for stock footage for films like Godzilla vs. Gigan, Frankenstein Conquers the World, and Prophecies of Nostradamus. |

For the new year, my wish list would be, I hope Criterion releases more Pasolini (a "Mamma Roma" upgrade would be great; Accatone, Oedipus Rex, etc.), more Scorsese (After Hours, Bringing Out the Dead), I'd love an upgrade of Nagisa Oshima's "Empire of Passion", I do hope to see "Burn!", Kurosawa's "Dersu Uzala" (or, a Kurosawa SET in the same vein as the Bergman, Varda, and Fellini sets would be heart stopping), Vaclav Marhoul's "The Painted Bird", and many others....
Some of these I even already have imports of, but would still like to have them in Region A, and in the Collection. |

It has nice quality for such a long neglected film. It had a whole second disc of bonus content, including, "La Ricotta", a short Pasolini directed for an anthology film called, 'RoGoPaG'. It stars Orson Welles. But, yes, it's the only Pasolini feature that has no blu ray release anywhere in the world, yet. The film itself is great, too, obviously. |

My hopes the most for this year are re-releases of Spellbound, Pandora's Box, and releases of I'm Thinking of Ending Things, Muriel's Wedding, Dancer in the Dark, La Vie en Rose, and Dogville. Maybe 2021 will bring another director boxset later in the year- Pasolini or Bunuel perhaps?

that I know, but the current blu is from Fox, does MGM decide who gets to put it out on physical media - the fact that it's 4K Dolby Vision on ITunes/Vudu is damn impressive and I'm assuming that was MGM's call. I read that MGM studio is selling itself off, I just hope Disney is not lurking in the corner, I will spit nails if they get their catalog titles.

I don’t know the exact answer. I saw someone say awhile ago that Warner was going to be the distribution arm for MGM now (they did the home video release for the recent Bill & Ted Face the Music), but I don’t know if they holds for catalogue titles as well. If so, I could see them more likely to do a 4K release of West Side Story themselves, but who knows?
