What a fabulous lineup for May! Fast Times at Ridgemont High will be a must-buy for me, as I once wrote about that film back in the early 2000s for my "Youth Film" class in the Film Studies program at my university. Nightmare Alley is also on my to-buy list as I find it to be a pretty offbeat film noir. As for the others, I'm not as interested, although Trances is a film I want to see.

Myself was one of those demanding this. He made 7 films and 3 are on the label. I'm sure they can/could get the others. |

By the by, these are the Criterion titles (so far) licensed from Fox. That I know of; I'm sure I'm missing some.

The question, though, is in what condition are the elements?

I still hope Criteron will pick up more titles from Netflix such as Ballad of Buster Scruggs and The Forest of Love (With both cuts). I love Forest of Love and I feel like Criteron will be our only hope to release it on home video in North America.

Why does Criterion insist on cartoons as covers for their classics, though? Fredric March was a handsome young man when he made Merrily We Go To Hell but he looks like a completely different, and much older, much less attractive person on the cover. And poor Sylvia Sidney looks like she's in the middle of a spell of Bell's palsy. Why Criterion is so averse to doing artfully re-arranged original publicity photos or using poster art for their classics, I don't know.
This screams boutique label cover art to me: [Show spoiler] The cover vs. the still photo it's based on: [Show spoiler] EDIT: Just skimming over the Criterion website, it seems Swing Time, The Story Of Temple Drake, and Show Boat were the only "vintage" Hollywood titles in the last few years to use either a photo or the original art.
