Why on Earth would they release them unless Criterion has lost distribution rights? Criterion’s site shows currently unavailable, not out of print. They’re not designated as 4K issues, so I don’t get the angle.

I checked on Criterionforum dot org on the Criterion discussion and random speculation thread. Frau Blucher has broached the subject of Days of Heaven, Don’t Look Now and Rosemary’s Baby all having forthcoming Paramount releases, but there have been no replies yet. I checked the Criterion OOP topic-no mention.

It could be a "The Game" situation where a newer studio release just co-exists with the in-print Criterion release.

Probably emailed Mulvaney half-a-dozen times, and always received a timely and helpful response. I can't say how others choose to approach such communications, but mine are always polite, brief, and to-the-point. I imagine he receives a large number of missives and demands which reasonably aren't likely to solicit a reply (also, the Contact Us page doesn't guarantee a response, even if he "lives for this stuff").

I don’t think these are going OOP. Paramount is probably just making these to sell to people who have no idea/don’t care about Criterion/boutique releases which is actually most people

La Dolce Vita is a weird one though

Or those who don't want to pay Criterion prices. Criterion usually gives a heads-up on titles going OOP so I think most here are reading too much into Paramount offering these titles for sale, individually.

Spot on. Also, Criterion releases titles that already have perfectly good editions available - e.g., Parasite.

I am curious about how well that sold for them since it actually came out after the 4K disc.
