Having finally watched The Wedding March I will now begin championing for its Criterion release.... Along with That Hamilton Woman finally getting a proper Blu Ray upgrade.

With all the Paramount titles going OOP. Got myself copies of 5 of those since I already own La Dolce Vita on Blu-ray. Haven't seen any of them but just got Harold & Maude and Nashville in the mail a few days ago. Loved Harold & Maude but haven't had chance to watch Nashville but excited to do so on the weekends when I have more time to fit in that 160 minute runtime!

As always, real curious to see what this month's announcements are going to be. And I will keep on praying for India Song and the rest of Duras's works as well as Ottinger's to come out either in the Criterion Collection or Kino Lorber. A Criterion Channel release should also do for these movies since they are both great female directors that are barely known in the film community.

Grabbed the only copy of Rosemary’s Baby blu-ray in my city at Sunrise records. Called in and put it on hold and picked up after work. Sure, I paid full price bit it beats eBay prices. Hyped to actually find one in the wild!

Criterion/Janus have the rights to 'Andrei Tarkovsky. A Cinema Prayer', a documentary by Andrei Tarkovsky Jr.

Managed to score a copy of Days of Heaven from a seller on Facebook for a good price. Not paying those eBay scalper prices.

So now I have all 6 (with the exception of Don't Look Now - I have the SC UHD which obv beats the Criterion).

Glad to hear others were able to find some of these titles before they completely disappeared.

Just picked up a copy of Y Tu Mama Tambien at my local B&N as it looks like it too is out of print. Maybe they'll repress it here in a few months but better safe than sorry.

I was able to find copies of Nashville and Don't Look Now (assuming that they actually get shipped and are in stock, so we'll see), but still looking for Harold and Maude.

Better safe than sorry, yes, but there are no indications anything else is going out of print, and in fact apparently multiple people have been told in response to inquiries that there is nothing else going out of print on the horizon. There are many titles that are 'Currently Unavailable' in the store, which happens after every flash sale when they unload tons of copies. The fact that this release is a Blu-Ray/DVD Combo holdover makes it even more likely to be in that stage, and in fact it may be in a transition now in which they will create a new blu-ray-only edition and lose the extra, extraneous DVDs when it returns to stock.

I can totally see that happening, like they did with the Fantastic Mr. Fox and It's A Mad, Mad, Mad World releases.

I noticed Frances Ha is in that same situation.

Random, but does anyone have a North American season 3 of better call Saul? Am willing to pay a lot of money for it.

The front? That's just gonna mess up the beautiful cover art!
I put the stickers on the back, on top of the rectangle with Criterion's mission statement. It seems like the perfect place for them.

Mishima: A Life in 4 Chapters

Even to someone (like yours truly) who has never read any of Yukio Mishima's work, Paul Schrader's film at least distinguishes itself as a gripping and intriguing work of deep-felt personal passion and gorgeous artistry. It also has probably the most dramatic and pulse-quickening music Philip Glass did in his entire life. Heck, I think after this Glass spent most of the remainder of his life in convalescence

The video on the blu is nothing short of fakkin' awesome, with incredible colors and textures, and while I've seen only a few of the extras including the Donald Ritchie interview, vintage Mishima interview and the piece with producers Tom Luddy & Mata Yamamoto, this is already showing itself up as one of the best releases in the 'C'ollection. The digipack design is goofy with a fat booklet that threatens to fall out every time you pull the pack out of the slipcase, but the artwork is admittedly gorgeous.

In light of all the 4K blu-ray talk, I thought I'd post a fun fact.

Here are the top 20 directors on TSPDT, and I've put a 'yes' or 'no' next to their name indicating whether or not they're represented on the 4K blu-ray format:

Hitchcock (yes)
Welles (no)
Kubrick (yes)
Fellini (no)
Godard (yes)
Coppola (yes)
Bergman (no)
Renoir (no)
Ford (no)
Akira Kurosawa (no)
Scorsese (yes)
Ozu (no)
Bunuel (no)
Tarkovsky (no)
Chaplin (no)
Wilder (no)
Bresson (no)
Dreyer (no)
Murnau (no)
Antonioni (no)

By my count, a solid five years after the format's introduction only five of these directors have had at least one of their films released on 4K blu-ray. At the end of 2011, five years after 1080p blu-ray was introduced and only three years after it emerged the winner of the format war, all except one of these directors was represented on the then new format. The exception was Dreyer. I just felt this was interesting to observe.

Welles will receive a 4K this summer (Touch Of Evil - from Kino)

Screen Archives emailed me and had to cancel my order of Don't Look Now. Oh well. I wanted a new copy for collecting purposes; I just ordered the Studio Canal 4K release instead.
