I sold my copy of Le Cercle Rouge about a year ago in anticipation of a new release.

Still waiting...

I'm hoping Le Deuxième Souffle comes first. The initial Le Cercle Rouge still holds up despite a new 4K existing which I'm sure we'll see on Blu-ray soon.

If only Criterion would do all out months dedicated to a single theme or director. We could get all the Melvilles at once.

I’ve got lots of hopes. More Francis Coppola, John Cassavetes, Monte Hellman but if I’m gonna go one pick I’m gonna go with the one I’ve been repeating for a couple years:

Voyage of Time (multiple cuts) Terrence Malick.

Or a boxset. They have most of his films, so it would be great to just get them out there.

Do they? They lost some to Studio Canal which Kino then released.

I'd buy that for a dollar.

But yeah, Melville would be a good get for a boxset. They don't even need all of them as evidenced by the Bergman and Fellini sets. It seems like Criterion is relying on boxsets to support them financially to a certain extent.

They got most (all?) of them back within the last couple of years, hence the re-issue of Army of Shadows.

Since Kino released Le Doulos, Bob Le Flambeur, & Leon Morin Priest on Blu. I just assumed they had the rights.

Well, I guess Criterion has a lot and Kino has a lot of them. They have I believe 4 or 5 of them, so I guess they could release those together.

Call me crazy, but I’ve always imagined Robert Altman’s M*A*S*H (1970) getting a better 4K restoration and being released on Criterion 1080p Blu-ray.

The director that would be most deserving for a full month dedication of releases right now would be Satyajit Ray, as this May marks the centennial of his birth.

I'm predicting two titles of his to be announced next week, especially if it seems no box set is forthcoming.

I fully expect them to now be in this weeks announcements
John Woo deserves better. All his 1986-1992 titles are masterpieces of Hong Kong action cinema

Yeah, the current releases of the Killer and Hardboiled are horrible beyond imagining. Probably the worst Blu-rays I own.

Most commonly 4th Tues in Feb and 3rd Tues Oct, but there has always been a bit of wiggle room esp depending on specific high profile releases
