Good. There are other important films that deserve the exposure that those directors' films have had for decades now. Criterion releasing Bergman and Antonioni at this point is like TCM playing Casablanca and Gone With The Wind... after all these years, you can come up with something else. And they are, to their credit.

Antonioni's 'Casablanca' and 'Gone With The Wind' have been covered but I wouldn't mind releases of:

Zabriskie Point
Chung Kuo, Cina
The Mystery of Oberwald (though its SOV)
Beyond the Clouds (Co-Directed by another Criterion favorite Wim Wenders due to Antonioni being paralyzed, I'm sure there's some interesting behind-the-scenes there.)

Does Criterion still have the rights to The Unbearable Lightness of Being? That used to be one of my most-wanted, but I’ve kind of given up hope.

I see it a lot like SJW, which I've had thrown at me many a time, and similarly I'm like 'yeah, and that's bad is it?' - until recently I was CEO at a very well known UK non profit that literally exists to fight for social justice so it has always been a weird 'insult' to me!

Stop cluttering the thread up and besides it’s pointless because The Independent Newspaper is far from being being ‘Independent". It always takes a left sided view of life. Very one sided. They are not interested in the facts because they are very quick to judge and not report the whole picture just like The BBC.

Anyway this is about Criterion, keep it to that please.

The Naked Spur and Winchester 73 would be great especially with the way Criterion pack most of their releases with bonus features. Stagecoach (1939) and Red River were excellent in that regard.

Something from Dreyer, Bresson, Ozu, Mizoguchi or Gosha would be most welcome.

Also would like to see either Red Beard, When a Woman Ascends the Stairs, Fires on the Plain or The Spirit of the Beehive get an upgrade.

The Criterion DVD preceded the 2-disc special edition put out by WB, and I think all are OOP, so who knows. Just wish one of them would give it the release it deserves.

I'll second everything you said, but Hideo Gosha is at the top of my list. Or at least Hunter in the Dark is.
