Article from Wellesnet that offers some info on the possibility of a Citizen Kane Criterion release. Jonathan Rosenbaum announcing a new commentary he recorded for Citizen Kane is the biggest indicator. This could be spine #1100. To match the Spine #001 for the Criterion LaserDisc. If it happens that is. I hope it’s a 4K release from Warner’s personally.

Imagine a screen that fills your eyes without filling your room.

Of course there are still kinks to be worked out. As of now most people are using it for stuff on their hard drives, and issues with HDCP, quality of decoding, how multi-channel sound will be presented are not yet clear. But it may prove to be a great way of watching one's favorite films alone.
If you're going to get one of those total immersion headsets, it sure better have good sound too. Of course there is always that danger of hearing damage as well so best not to crank up the volume. I've stopped using headphones and earbuds over the last 10-15 years since I developed minor tinnitus from going to loud music concerts (plus being in a band for 2 years didn't help my hearing).

Short throw 4k laser projectors are what I'm excited about though.

If Criterion has the rights and does the standard blu/dvd releases, people will stop asking for UHD because it would be futile.

Most likely WB puts out the UHD.

Citizen Kane rumors again just in time for that Mank release

I’m gonna take a swing and say we see these in November.

Mank and Citizen Kane being released at the same time makes sense.

I still want to see Criterion release "The Painted Bird".

I imported the Czech Republic blu ray well over a year ago, and it came out in the UK on Eureka last November. But there is still no US release. (Other than streaming).

I figure either Criterion or Shout will be the ones to release it (it was distributed in the US by IFC Films).

Going on the premise that they want to get this out for the 80th, November feels like it could be a thing for me because it’s a pretty hot month with Christmas coming and the BN sale. Seems like the type of big American title that seems to come out around that point.

So tired of hearing about a Criterion release of Citizen Kane, as if we've been starving for a quality, extras-stacked HD representation all these years.

If Criterion isn't going to embrace UHD then there's absolutely nothing to talk about here. OMG BUT A NEW COMMENTARY

The Other Side of the Wind would also make sense to release with CK. Apparently it’s up to Nutflex though

Y’all know what I meant. Criterion laserdiscs don’t count. I’m pretty sure my kindergarten graduation ceremony got a Criterion laserdisc release at some point, they released everything.

Citizen Kane shouldn’t be a late-Blu-era Criterion title. A total waste, if so.

Me thinking I would totally double dip for a good commentary:

Scream has done their part with the Lewton films, need Criterion and WAC (well, what's left of them) to finish the job.

I'm hoping the long-held rumors about Criterion having I Walked with a Zombie and, to a lesser extent, The 7th Victim are true.

If that's the case we just need the remains of WAC to push out Bedlam and The Ghost Ship for the collection to be complete.

3 companies, 3 releases apiece. I like it.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but Severin is going to be releasing Blood for Dracula and Vinegar Syndrome is going to be releasing Flesh for Frankenstein, both on 4K UHD.
