To some of you that own A Hard Day’s Night can you tell what you think of it...

I’m thinking of getting one!

Anyone have any experience with UV? This is my first time. Fingers crossed it is a good experience.
For the most part UV is ok, especially for these kind of sales (Canadians get shafted again )! Some things to look out for with UV.

Half your stuff will be back ordered and will take time before getting, I've experienced them sending the wrong format but they will send you the proper one in a timely fashion if you contact them through email or over the phone. The big issue that I've seen in the past is that UV will pick and chooses what films go on the sale, they either remove the film from the website before the sale or mark it as being OOS even though most of their stuff will be back ordered anyways....
You can also order stuff off Amazon.com that price match the B&N sale, they will ship to Canada, but after the conversion and everything it basically adds up to the same prices as the UV sale.

It’s a must-have if you’re a fan of the Beatles or of British humor (both dry and slapstick). If not, you might just find it annoying.

Yeah you might wait forever on some titles . They don't match everything (not even close from what I remember).

I think this is my single biggest B&N Criterion haul to date... and I'm not even done! MIRROR comes out next week, plus that WORLD OF WONG KAR WAI set is calling my name...!

These were all on my potential pick-ups list and happened to all be out of stock at my local B&N. Going on Saturday to hopefully get the rest of the list. Don't like the idea of getting them all from Amazon, it removes some of the excitement.
Got some more today at B&N.

Cleared a couple off the wishlist, I've only seen 4 of these before! Excited to dive in!

My grabs for what will probably be the entire thing. I was initially worried about the WKW set but...For under $100 after that coupon code on Thursday? Sure!

Within the next 6 weeks we should find out what the big year-end box set will be (if they have one this year). Anyone have any idea what it could be?

I'm hoping it's Satyajit Ray. On his birthday, when TCM was having their Ray marathon, the films I saw that didn't yet have a BD release all started with the Criterion logo.

They're always very helpful and nice about it.
Thanks again, they ordered me a replacement copy.

While browsing your collection, I also thought that this modernistic mystery directed by the Italian master about a British fashion photographer who discovers an alleged murder case during printing and blowing up his photos would hardly be your immediate cup of tea, but then again, I thought that you might want a fresh discovery to broaden your horizons and find a new kind of pleasure that cinema can offer. Believe me, this film, while not a violent, intense genre film, is not that far from Peeping Tom (which I know you have) or Italian gialli of Dario Argento in its essence.

Then again, if you're not interested in that kind of pleasure, Sisters (De Palma's first full-on Hitchcockian suspense film) or Notorious (an Alfred Hitchcock espionage masterpiece about a guy basically pimping out the girl he loves to expose a Nazi conspiracy) could be an easier (and not lesser, for sure) alternative.

By the way, I second RCRochester's The Parallax View recommendation. Another great American paranoiac thriller fully aware of the apparatus of cinema not unlike Blow Out.

Same here. Went in looking for books & Funko Pops, thinking "I'll just look at the Criterion section". Thirty minutes later... bag of movies.

I was gonna pass on this sale, but I decided to bite the bullet and snag a couple of titles that I always kicked myself for getting rid of previously....

Masculin feminin just came down to 20 bucks. Nabbed it. I think I have a fairly unhealthy obsession with yé-yé girl Chantal Goya I'm building quite a little Godard collection, yet I'm not that revolutionary hmm Lots of other Godard titles at 20 bucks if you want to take a peek.

For my 25th birthday, on the 1st, and I got Magnificent Ambersons from my parents.

The day after, I decided to buy this on a whim at Barnes and Noble. Definitely going to have to hold of on purchasing anything else

Thanks latehong, I blind bought Peeping Tom & really did not enjoy it.

I read the thread about the music glitch on Dressed to Kill and a couple of seconds will not bother me & knowing me I probably would not even have picked that up haha!

The The Parallax View sounds possibly promising for me... now just to find another Criterion title for me to get that free shipping threshold

I went in and looked at the trailers for both of them (Sisters, Notorious) and like them, but I think I would get Notorious 1st (or maybe both hehe) knowing I would enjoy this classic just a tiny bit better!!

I just looked at my collection & I have this edition of Notorious... I do not particularly want to double-dip (I’m trying not to double, triple dip any more hehe ) this one right now.

I think I’ll watch The Parallax View now on Prime Video to see if it might be my ‘cup of tea’!

I’ve seen the 1st few minutes & it looks quite nice... now I do not think I want to see anymore so I can get the Criterion one, I do not want to spoil my “1st time viewing” of it haha (that is my rub of not watching something 1st before I get it & I think this could be a rewatch type of film for me!).

You sent me down the rabbit hole on this one. Turns out I own the First Printing, which I happened to order the day before the Second Printing was released. Anybody interested in buying this "rare" version?
