Onibaba is a dour chore that you might appreciate if you appreciate symbolism; Kuroneko is stylish and seductive, even if slightly more conventional.

Went fine.

Some entertaining replies. Even though TenYearLurker went at me, I thought his response was hilarious - I got a kick out of it.

JoelGoodsen is on my ignore list though, so I have no idea what he said and don't care. He should probably not bother responding to any of my posts, because I will never, ever see what he writes or engage with him. I only know he quoted me because it says so in the "recent forum activity" bar.

I wouldn't want to have to choose between these two. Both are atmospheric, creepy, unique and memorable. I want to give one an edge over the other, but I can't. Both are worth having.

Yeah, I would say that's an accurate description of my recent posts.

Save the salt for the reviews (which by the way I appreciate; sometimes you'll post about an old fave I need to revisit or something cool sounding that I haven't seen)

Could Criterion just slap em on disc and ship em out in sleeves for those of us that hold the blu ray remote with our pinkies out?

I can still remember being dragged into watching that film with a girlfriend during the VHS 80s. Had absolutely no desire to see it - it felt like a musical, and that usually signaled instant death for me. Boy was I wrong. For one, it's way more than a musical, and I fell in love with it instantly. I'm still a tough sell on most musicals, but this is one really opened me up to giving more films - even musicals - a chance. Total classic.

It's like if you root for a team, you're really not a fan until you relocate to the city they play in and live in the closest neighborhood to the stadium and develop a close friendship with at least one member of the coaching staff. Anyone else is an absolute bandwagon fan of the highest order.

Not even a little bit, but you appear to be since you're stanning for him so hard.

All I did was considerately give him a heads-up that I've had him blocked for a while now and therefore can no longer see his posts, so he shouldn't waste his time responding to me and expecting a reply in return, because he won't get one. Simple as that.

I've only blocked three people ever on Blu-ray.com (no one else from this thread), so that should tell you something...

Anyway, Criterion...

The Night of the Hunter is such an incredible movie. I'm really tempted to buy the Blu, but I've seen it twice in the past 2.5 years and I feel like a 4K is right around the corner. What do you all think?

On that note, has anyone seen the Richard Chamberlain remake? It might still be on YouTube. It's dire.

I don't block people, I just stopped using this site for forum discussions. Don't even want to see most of the comments people put for the Blu-ray and Criterion announcements. Not a fan of hearing negative stuff.

About Night of the Hunter, you'll just have to take the bet. There's no sign indicating if a 4K restoration is on its way until it's announced. As for me, I already bought it about a year ago since I love this movie so much. So yeah, it's impossible to determine when exactly the 4K comes out unless if you have contact with friends who are working on the restoration or knows someone who is working on it. If it's a film that you think you'll revisit numerous in the next few years or even months, then the Blu-ray may be worth it after all. If you have no desire whatsoever and can wait for years to come, you CAN take that chance to not buy it and wait for the possibility of a 4K release.

There are some great people here. You just have to find them. I'd hope I'm one of them. You definitely are.

Great advice. The Night of the Hunter is the rare movie that got better for me with a second viewing. But having seen it twice already over the past 2.5 years, I can probably wait patiently. If there's a major deal on the Blu-ray (beyond the usual Criterion flash sale/B&N sale pricing), I'll jump on it. Otherwise, I'll bide my time. There are so many great releases, from Criterion and elsewhere.

Thank God for that because I also find you unbearable.

I know you read my post though, and that will do for me sweetheart. I can’t stand people that put others down or try to be ‘above’ people. The responses to your snobby comment were justified. Glad to see the real you shining through and for people to pick up on it.

Plenty people do and have supported Criterion with their hard earned dollar, without someone like you coming along and saying they haven’t. Show people some respect and you won’t get torn to shreds like you have. Happy non engaging.

He really is gbm82. All because I said I don’t agree that labels should keep re-releasing perfectly good Blu Rays and they should instead focus on unreleased stuff. He has never forgiven me haha.

I never expected someone with a name like DaBargainHunta to be so snobby about other people not wanting to throw money away on re-release after re-release and putting others down for not spending money on a steaming service. Cant say stuff like that with a penny pinching name haha.

I rarely block people because I’m a grown man that can engage in a conversation and not run away like a little boy. It will be a struggle going on with Blu Ray forum life knowing I am on your blocked list but I will do my best to fight the struggle and carry on each day…….I will miss you trying to belittle me and others by saying that our money isn’t good enough compared to yours though.

Keep flying high my friend. High above everyone else!!
