In the article he says "There’s a new restoration that’s been done by the British Film Institute, and it’s going to be in the Criterion Collection", so it sounds like its the same restoration. I'm sure Criterion is also working with him since they have a relationship. Also Vulture being a New York based company means he is specifically referring to America.

Concerning the Citizen Kane problems: Props to Criterion for a swift and more-than-fair replacement program, but I really don't understand how something this major makes it past QC.

They said you could break it in half and mail it in a regular envelope with a stamp. Of course if one is to do that make sure it's done safely.

Ran into this this morning. Wasn't a complete wasted trip, as I still picked up Menace and Uncut Gems.

Ditto at the B&N here in Boston. Frankly, I'd planned on picking up the Mulholland 4k in lieu of Kane anyway, given the blu ray issue.

Love ya, Criterion, but how in the world did this happen? Imagine if a Lynch release had gotten this sloppy treatment.

I mean, it happens. Friday the 13th had three discs recalled from the huge box set last year. Mad Max 4k just had a recall. It’s not a perfect process and things can go wrong along the way no matter what level of scrutiny there is, especially when trying to get your discs replicated for the holiday season.
