Just finished Wise Blood, great book. This certainly means Criterion will announce it soon.

This and 'Desperate Living' are what we need.

Just watched Old Henry and really enjoyed it. However, it makes me wonder if Criterion will ever release The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

What was wrong with the Citizen Kane Blu Ray included with the 4k? I wasn't around reading forums.

Just started Hitchcock's Young and Innocent on the Criterion Channel and it opens with the Criterion and Janus logos. Could we possibly be getting a release of it? It looks like they did have a LaserDisc release of it.

To be honest, I doubt that's a "big" enough Hitchcock film to see any kind of standalone release. If they were to ever put it on disc, it would probably be in some sort of box set, or as an extra for another film. That's just my suspicion though. Unfortunately they have tons of titles, particularly classic Japanese films, that they're likely to never put on disc. But at least they're available for streaming.

If you are region free, Network has a very nice HD of Young and Innocent. I have it and really enjoyed it. It also has the half-hour Hitchcock- the Early Years doc.

They also have Sabotage, but the PQ isn't that great.

Fettuccine Alfredo over on Kino is making some bold claims. Says Criterion will be releasing Pulp Fiction, After Hours, and Dead Presidents in 2022 as well as a spaghetti western. Lies or truth? You decide.

I'm on the skeptical side.

When Menace II Society was announced I hoped they also had Dead Presidents since they put it out on Laserdisc previously.

Different studios though, Menace II Society was New Line / Warner, who Criterion still has a relationship with.

Dead Presidents was released by Hollywood Pictures / Disney, so completely different situation. Disney has never relicensed any of their titles to Criterion for Blu-ray release. (Dead Presidents never even go a Criterion DVD release... I think the only titles that Disney released on Criterion LD that showed up on DVD were Armageddon and The Rock.)

Straw Dogs was released by Criterion before Disney's acquiring Fox.

I see it was produced under ABC Productions International, but I'm not 100% certain how much Disney controls since it was dissolved back in 1988. They're features may have been sold off to other distributors, or actually gone back into control of the Peckinpah estate. (Might have been under MGM as well...)

What about "Claudine?" That was released by Criterion and after the Disney acquisition of Fox.

As with Straw Dogs, likely controlled by the original production company or producers. Fox just distributed the film theatrically.

It was licensed from Fox. Here are a list of titles that have been licensed from Fox: https://criterionforum.org/Search/Licensor/44/1
