Criterion have been linked to After Hours, Raging Bull, Mean Streets, and Cape Fear, so it's not too hard to guess that they have were going to release 1 Scorsese film on 4K.

Yeah, it was a real waste of time dealing with that noodle. I was pretty excited at the prospect of finally getting Dead Presidents on Blu-ray.

Well, here we go again! Another great lineup of Criterion releases! And as usual I have nothing of substance to add here, but hey, have fun staring at all of that beautiful new artwork for the next 3 months!

The UK SC release of Mr. Klein was on my list, so I'll likely wait for the Criterion now.

I have the MoC release of Double Indemnity, but the UHD announcement is great. Very interested to see the reviews, and a potential pickup down the line.

Double Indemnity 4K and Mr. Klein for the win.

Speaking of 4K, I'm waiting for the flash sale, so that I can order the existing 4K titles.

I hope so. It's a handful of films that I'm genuinely shocked don't have a US Blu-ray.

Why did they stop recording new commentaries? They are all archival. Lazy af when you compare them to other boutique labels

I imagine the hold up on Dead Presidents is because of the music, right? It's wall-to-wall songs from huge artists.

Best announcement of the year, thus far!! Double Indemnity is simply divine, and having it in 4K is going to mean one of this cinephile’s dreams coming to fruition.

And I love that cover. Missy sits there in the dark, illuminated only by a lone cigarette, hissing with danger. It perfectly encapsulates how utterly over his head Fred MacMurray’s Walter Neff truly was.

Even the doomed male tarantula is afforded a moment of ecstasy before being utterly devoured.

Poor Fred.

On some level, I very much agree. It’s disappointing, especially coupled with the fact that Criterion rarely does the kinds of booklets they did. I’d happily pay another $1-2 for those to return.

For a film like Double Indemnity, however, it’s not as much of a deal breaker, at least for me. I have both the Masters of cinema and the Universal blus, and they’re pretty loaded up.

So long as the 4K encode is done properly, I’ll be happy as a clam.

Just pointless b*tching since it's pretty useless to record a new commentary when one already exists. Like what is a new commentary going to add in the span of 90+ minutes that isn't already covered on the previous commentary?? Not to mention that other labels also rely on previous commentaries as well.

There are some films with 5 commentaries out there. Who the hell is going to sit through five different commentaries of a modern movie?

I must confess, I've never once listened to a commentary track with a movie.

Suspiria has 2 very different commentaries. Last night I watched Raw and it has one with a critic and another with the director. The Howling. True Romance has 4.. Pick any Kino Lorber. So no, it's not pointless *****ing. Criterion just doesn't want to pony up the money anymore to hire some film historian or critic to do it.

Yeah, why couldn't Criterion pony up the money to get the director of 'Double Indemnity' to do a commentary track like those other movies. That's not a pointless complaint at all, that's clearly constructive criticism that you're offering up, comparing a movie from the '40's to recent movies where the creative people are still alive to talk about it.
