I've pre-emptively sold my copy of Paris, Texas because I think a 4K disc of that movie is inevitable at this point. It's a very well-loved film, a great new 4K restoration has already been performed, and let's be honest - the old Criterion blu from 2010 (?) does not look very good.

Just an FYI -- I've got a shipment from Criterion (Visible Send Pro - NY 10003) in my USPS dashboard, so A Hard Day's Night UHD replacements are starting to go out.

After hinting about Lost Highway the other day, Janus has now confirmed they have rights to a new 4K restoration of Lynch's Lost Highway, premiering at Lincoln Center. A 4K release from Criterion should be upcoming.

Lincoln Center will also be doing a huge retrospective on Mike Leigh, which is being co-presented by Janus Films. The list of films isn't posted yet, but new restorations are mentioned.

A lot of other great films, and retrospectives are part of their Spring lineup too, including one on Dario Argento.

I forgot to post this yesterday but in this article from The Digital Bits about the 60th Anniversary of 'West Side Story', Criterion is listed as one of the copyrights holders for the images used in the article. The images used throughout are mainly stills from the film, with a few images from Behind The Scene and memorabilia being show, so I wonder what images were licensed from Criterion.

Would it be possible for Janus to only have screening rights to Lost Highway? Maybe they don’t actually have the rights for streaming and or disc releases. Or maybe they have 4k streaming and disc rights? I have no idea what to make of it. I hope they do a 4k UHD release though.

I remember it being rumored years ago. Honestly thought they would've done it by now if they were going to, but Criterion's release strategy is unpredictable at times anyway. West Side Story seems like a prime candidate for 4K release from somebody, so time will tell, I'm sure.

Now that we see Sony has licensed out so.e UHD titles to Arrow I strongly believe we will be getting Sex Lies and Videotape soon. CC did create and HDR master already on Soderberghs behalf.

They created a new 4K master of Walkabout and also have an HDR master of Blood Simple as well.

If I'm not mistaken Criterion has yet to re release a movie that was already released on blu ray and taken from a 4K DI, to then re release it on UHD right? Or was Mulholland already from a 4K scan before (I know the SC release was but unsure about Criterion's).

I was wondering which other existing 4K DI blu ray release of theirs could be up for a UHD release soon, and I saw that My Darling Clementine is from a 4K DI and came out in 2014. Almost 8 years ago. Maybe that one has a shot.

Not likely since it's a Fox/Disney title.
