I’m super glad they gave us a heads up that new title announcements are pushed to Thursday instead of making us F5 every 10 minutes for the next 6 hours. I can go do things now.

Thursday's the 50th anniversary of Pink Flamingos's premiere, for what it's worth.

I'm not arguing against a Kurosawa Set, I'd just hope I wouldn't be buying a 20 film set that I already own half of from the same company. Paying again to buy the movies for a 2nd or 3rd time.
Understood. But I'd imagine a Kurosawa set would me closer to his entire filmography than just 20 films.

Tales of Hoffmann...so is that like a double clue for Twister and Tall Tale?

Criterion released blu ray upgrades of "The Virgin Spring" and "Scenes from a Marriage" just a few months before announcing the big box set. I purchased those, then, and I still got the box set. And I'm still happy that the titles I'd already bought were in the set, too. That might have seemed a bit shady on Criterion's part, to release those so soon before the box, obviously already knowing they had that box coming, but we didn't know for sure.

Still, I'm glad the set is as complete as it is. Heck, I was bothered that "Face to Face" wasn't in there, as it's still just a DVD only release with Olive. I have that DVD right next to my Bergman box on the shelf, still, LOL. I definitely wouldn't have liked a Bergman big box that didn't have "The Virgin Spring" or "Scenes from a Marriage" or "The Seventh Seal" or any of those in it.

If people don't want the whole box, they can buy the individual titles of those, now. I do wish I'D known, though, that the set was coming before I bought them.
I almost bought a few of the solo titles before deciding to finally get the whole boxset. I only had 4 beforehand. I think both the Fellini and Bergman sets are great deals still. Even if I had most of the individual releases I'd still feel that way.

I hope so.

Or its Isle of Dogs since I've been crying for that one.

Not gonna lie, I thought the pic in the announcement delay tweet was from Farewell My Concubine and that we’d finally have a good disc for that film. Anyways, I’m off to go suffer immensely! (stomach problems today ugh)

I'm pleased they let us know, at least, instead of making us squirm for hours, LOL.

Anyway, still hoping for some great stuff come Thursday.

even if they released a Kurosawa box set on blu i would still keep the AK100 set, since i doubt any set they release on blu ray will look as nice as the AK100 box

Will be interesting to see if if Tales of Hoffman is a UHD. Since SC only released it on BD internationally, I'm not sure it bodes well for one (unless SC are also planning a 4K in the UK too?)

The 4K restoration looks very nice:

So probably for Thursday:

The Tales of Hoffmann
Pink Flamingos
Man Bites Dog or Isle of Dogs

That leaves 1-3 probable other releases. Hoping we get Cure, but probably not until October. Mudbound finally?

If we get all those bolded and maybe Drive My Car, then I would be a very happy camper!

I wouldn't expect the dog clue, if it even is a clue to be for the next announcement, but who knows. I would say Hoffman, and Pink Flamingos are pretty strong locks though.
