Good news about the Peckinpah. And I'm sure they'll put whatever cuts they can. They try to if the filmmaker isn't alive to put out their desired version.

This was a total blind buy as I had been curious about Abbas Kiarostami for a long time.

Slyly subversive and deceptively layered... I'm going to have to see more of his work!

I just got in Le Cercle Rouge 4K. The Projection Booth podcast February really sold me on it.

Janus Films has the US rights to it. So it’s good as guaranteed, just need the disc to be announced.

Revisited my old DVD of House Party recently and am surprised to see it never had a blu-ray, even a cheap release. I feel Criterion could do something nice with this sleeper/cult hit.

Yeah, it seems like nobody has worse quality control than Criterion. MOST of the ones I've gotten have small scratches on them.

Are those scratches or smudges though? If they're scratches, that's worse than anything I've ever seen.

Appear to be smudges to me, but hard to tell in the pics.

As far as QC, since Criterion uses the exact same Plant (and only) to produce/replicate/pack/wrap their items as pretty much 100% of the rest of the North American releases it seems hard to imagine only one company having the issue

I agree it's hard to imagine, but the evidence is there. Most of my Criterion purchases have at least minor scratches, most of my non-Criterions are flawless.

So either there's something specific about Criterion manufacturing, or I have frankly impossibly bad luck with Criterion.

I haven't heard anything concrete, but I'd expect they're making 4K's of Seventh Seal and Seven Samurai priority. But we won't know till it's announced!

Maybe they could add 'Se7en' to the collection and make it a 7 Box Set!
