Maybe this delay is a long hint for them announcing After Hours, but after their usual hours of announcing.

I could see them releasing Who's That Knocking at My Door and Mean Streets as a double-bill, but I'd eat my hat if they released a bigger Scorsese box.

Now to scour over the back of the old Blu release and guess which features Criterion will be retaining and which won't.

A Scorsese box set would be bonkers. And I also kinda feel like would explain why it's been so long waiting for After Hours. But also why wouldn't they wait on The Last Waltz and throw that in there

With the Scorsese films coming from different studios a box set is unlikely I feel. We know MGM are licensing out 4K rights, so a solo UHD for Raging Bull makes sense.

The Kino Insider had said this back in 2020 too, so I guess there was some implications that Criterion had it for some time now.

I’m obviously in the minority, but I’ve never really cared for Raging Bull all that much. The rather deliberate pacing combined with the film’s overly forgiving attitude to its protagonist has always turned me off somewhat. I’ll take the raw and unpolished energy of Mean Streets any day.

So no After Hours anytime soon huh? Given that if they release Raging Bull and Criterion having just released The Last Waltz, some time will have to time pass by until another Scorsese.

Pasta and Criterion don't go well together, just look at what happened to fettucine.

They released BDs of "The Virgin Spring" and "Scenes from a Marriage" just months before the Bergman box was announced.

Anyway, I have no hints whatsoever about a Scorsese box. It's strictly my wishful thinking.

The last time I did such wishful thinking was way back in 2013, when I thought that there were Lynch and Cronenberg boxes coming for some reasons, and neither ever happened, LOL. We've all been wishing for that Kurosawa box, too.

So, I wouldn't get excited, just yet, LOL.

Well, with Raging Bull coming out in July, I don't think we'll be seeing After Hours for awhile.

Normally yes. But with The Last Waltz so recently, they seem to have loosened their restriction of one announcement of a directors movies per year.
