I saw someone on twitter suggest that it's a "marketing ploy" which suggests so many mind-boggling pretenses (people waiting with bated breath for announcements to drop represent a significant percentage of potential customers, delaying from Friday to Monday or Monday to Tuesday generates a level of attention that will definitely be remembered and felt when the titles are released three months from now, said attention is certain enough to have a positive effect that it's worth getting machiavellian about it, etc) that I almost ascended from this earth lorax-style

I imagine they're finalizing one of the covers or something even more banal

Both were directed by Carl Franklin (for the uninitiated). And not unsurprisingly, he has no films in the collection. So, I'm sure he doesn't mind either way.

I also tend to agree about The Virgin Suicides, seeing as how the Blu-ray was just released four years ago. But Coppola only has two great films to choose from, and I'm assuming they can't get the rights to Lost in Translation.

All that being said, I plan to pick up all the July releases except for Summertime, which I'm still on the fence about because I haven't seen it. If you ask me, that's the one that doesn't belong. But anyway, it's streaming on HBO Max, so hopefully I'll be able to watch it before release date.

Okay, I’ll bite and ask you. If you haven’t seen it, how can you say it doesn’t belong? If nothing else, it’s already in the Collection anyway, this is just an upgrade from the DVD.
