I really don't think it's big enough a title to sell that well in UHD. It's a very good film, so I'm not trying to bash the title— I do like it. I just can't imagine it exciting the 4K consumers like Lawrence or River Kwai have, or Doctor Zhivago might.

Ummm . . . anyone can calculate the half off prices at any time. Criterion movies have standard pricing, except for sets. So half off is, well, half off.

Everybody always talks about top half vs bottom half. I'd rather talk about side half. Or, as long as half is missing, take out different parts until you reach half.

I said, and can say, Summertime is not top-tier David Lean/Katharine Hepburn without having seen it because when I think of their work...I don't think of it.

David Lean: Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Brief Encounter, A Passage to India, Great Expectations, Oliver Twist.

Katharine Hepburn: The African Queen, The Philadelphia Story, Bringing Up Baby, The Lion in Winter, On Golden Pond, Little Women, Suddenly, Last Summer, Woman of the Year, Adam's Rib, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Long Day's Journey into Night, Stage Door, Pat and Mike, Morning Glory.

Now, to you, to dismiss a film without having seen it may seem foolish and ignorant. But I've seen people on this forum do it all the time. Are you all really going to sit here and act like you don't? Or, that it's usually not for Black-directed films, like the Devil in a Blue Dress (which I'm sure many of you haven't seen and don't think belongs). Furthermore, I've said that my opinion on the matter may change after watching it.

But now I see that this was all just a bait and switch. And that this group of man-children, who are no doubt older than me, seem to be unable to get over their hang-ups with me. But as I've told y'all before, that's your problem. Not mine. And I don't care.
I don't really have a hang-up with you because I have no idea who you are. Your profile says you've been a member since 2013 but I've only taken notice of you in the last two months or so since you've started showing up on the Criterion or Kino threads acting like a bit of a wing-nut.

Am I older than you? I don't know that either because you behave like a fifteen-year-old with this persecution complex you have and this attitude of "I've never heard of it so it can't be good" towards several movies. Just because people "do it all the time" doesn't really excuse anything. Maybe I am older than you because back in my day parents would spout that old adage "If everyone else jumped off a cliff, would you do it too?"

Do I dismiss films I've never heard of myself though? Perhaps maybe I do, but I don't go on a message board and make loud declarative statements to that effect which would only serve to further demonstrate my ignorance. I mean props to you for saying your opinion might change after seeing it, but for future reference you might want to reserve judgment until you actually have seen it.

Oh that's right, this is what caught my eye about you to begin with. This bizarre obsession with needing everyone to show off their collection and/or post all of the titles they purchased in a sale in order for you to consider their opinion valid... "The JWFord Fallacy." I hope it's driving you nuts that I keep my collection private from all other users.

I think a few of the Criterions I own probably "don't belong"....

[Show spoiler]

But I am sure happy to have them!

None of my collection is stored on this site either. It's not that I am trying to keep my collection private, but I started using DVD Profiler in 2012 and I've been storing everything on there ever since. It works great, doesn't require an internet connection, and I can access my database on my phone, my laptop, and my tablet.

They told me in the Kino thread "[You] have yet to post your haul (or even mention it until now). And I'm skeptical of anyone who claims to have upwards of 3000+ Blu-rays." So to follow their bizarre hierarchy, when they post all the titles they ordered that's proof that they own them, but when I add the titles I own to the Collection here I'm just lying. Now they're doing a 180 when it suits them and claiming if you don't share your collection here you're also lying? When a title is missing from the database, I add it.

There's a few odd ducks on here who get into arguments and then profile peep for "ammo" to craft a little social-media site "own" and it's instant comedy. This happens on Twitter a lot. (looks thru your images for a selfie and then calls you UGLY! winning!) If it gives em a shot of dopamine then whatever I guess!

JWFord's Logic:

Have never seen a film = totally okay to comment on its quality.

Did not post your sales haul = totally unqualified to comment on anything, ever.

At this point I might have to devise an entire set of laws around this guy.

What's awesome is now that we are all on his ignore list, he will never see this.

I'm sorry, I cannot take this comment seriously because you don't have your collection arranged by director and subdivided by label.

I wouldn't be so sure they put us all in ignore. They probably just said that, but didn't end up actually doing it.These type of individuals live for this kind of thing.

It would be even funnier if Summertime wasn't one of the titles announced.
