Hope an English friendly Blu-ray does surface soon, I believe my old DVD is a ticking time bomb from the infamous mid-late 00s batch of Warner product.
I actually don't think that WB is the rightsholder in the U.S anymore. There's a screening of Ginger and Fred happening at BAMPFA later this month, and it states on their website that they got permission to screen it from a company called Swank Motion Pictures.

I just finished watching Wild Strawberries for the first time. The only previous Bergman work that I'd seen was The Seventh Seal (which I greatly enjoyed). Would you all have any recommendations as to which of his films I should watch next?

So many great ones. My favorite of his work is The Virgin Spring, but keeping within that period of the 50s or so you'll find a lot of similar work.

Summer Interlude, Summer with Monika, Smiles of a Summer Night (a delightful comedy, markedly different from most of the rest), The Magician, and The Silence Trilogy are always good.

Criterion are having a 30% off sale, including pre-orders:

Pre-ordered Mr. Klein and Double Indemnity. I was planning to pick each one up at B&N on release day but I can't resist that discount. I thought about pre-ordering Raging Bull but that one comes out during the B&N 50% sale, right? I'll just go to the store for that one.

Be careful though, guys -- the default "add-to-cart" option on Criterion's website is for the Blu-ray, even for 4K releases. Be sure to double check.

So Studio Canal is premiering a "new restoration" of The Trial at Cannes. I hope Criterion can release it, maybe in the same month of announcements as The Other Side of the Wind!

I noticed that when adding to wishlists. It was really annoying!

Criterion loves me guys. They catered a sale specifically for me

The "K" cover would have been perfect for The Trial.

There was a big Mike Leigh retrospective announced at Lincoln Center this summer. The following are noted as having restorations and released by Janus, so hopefully a disc is forthcoming. I did not list ones that already have disc releases.
Bleak Moments - 2K Restoration. A Janus Films release.
Career Girls - 4K Restoration. A Janus Films release.
High Hopes - 2K Restoration. A Janus Films release.

I am beyond overjoyed. This is one of the greatest films ever made, and it will be quite an experience to see it in such a setting.

I hope that Criterion upgrades this to 4K soon.
I always liked the scene where one of the guys coming out of the theater slaps the cops ass while running by.

Meh. I'm really just cataloguing the content; not all that bothered about the versions.

LOL. I believe in Bergman's Images book he mentions summer lasts about three weeks in Sweden. They have to enjoy it while it's there.

I've collected a few Criterion discs from French-speaking women directors Claire Denis and Chantal Akerman and I'm about to watch their films for the first time

Beau travail (1997), White Material (2009) and Let the Sunshine In (2017) from Criterion and Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975), also from Criterion, and A Couch in New York (1996) which I found an English-friendly German dvd of.

If I end up liking both directors what discs should I aim to get hold of next? I was thinking Chocolat (1988) and High Life (2018) from Denis. And Eclipse Series 19: Chantal Akerman in the Seventies from Akerman.

Chan is Missing is being licensed from Strand Releasing, and Dim Sum (which is also streaming on Criterion Channel) is also from Strand, so odds are Criterion licensed that one too.

A couple of Denis essentials (not on Blu yet) are Friday Night and Trouble Every Day.
