Amazon just delivered my first Criterion 4K. And I’m beyond excited to see one of my favorite films of all-time in the very best presentation possible.

I hate when the artwork is misaligned. The spine on my copy of The Virgin Suicides is damaged because of that.

Yup, mine is pretty mangled at the top, as well. They'll be sending me a replacement in the mail. I'm e-mailing them right now.

And the second blu-ray disc had fingerprints all over the disc. I don't know what the heck has happened to their quality control...

I feel like misaligned artwork is happening more often. Nearly every criterion I’ve bought for the past two months has had misaligned artwork on it.

Would have preferred CD cases for movies. Uses less space and the art is more fixed.

It's been an issue for a few years now. I can remember heading to B&N for a new release and EVERY copy was that way.

VCDs are placed in CD cases.

Could have even come up with a custom opaque case for movies that's sturdier than CD keepcases. But movie cases using up eight times the size of the disc is really stupid and really inconsiderate to living space. Designers must think we all live in big houses.

Blue Velvet
Complete Lady Snowblood

Anyone think any of these are a threat to be re-released in 4K soon?

Looks like Criterion/Janus are venturing into more Latin American cinema, as Janus is credited as the theatrical licensor for Sara Gomez's 'De Cierta Manera' (One Way or Another).

Been a rough week for scratched discs for me. Received 5 damaged discs, including 3 new releases, 2 of which are Criterions. Both Pink Flamingos and Okja arrived with scratched and fingerprinted discs. Yes, I know I can wipe off the prints and I'm fine with that, but just sharing to show a human already damaged them. I still haven't mastered photographing the discs and the scratches are always worse than I can capture.
