Now, back to "Cries And Whispers". I'm on a Bergman kick these days.

OK...I'll crawl back under my rock...

Thanks CC...added to my NetFlix queue...I might pop in Seventh Seal later, but I still have The Fallen Idol to get to, before the end of the day.

Enjoy your current Bergman kick.

Weren't you the one who asked what the message of the movie was and now you're saying that there's actually nothing to get from the movie?

3/5 at best.
Well, I personally loved it, and I think a lot of people would agree with me on that, but there's no problem disliking it either. So, cool.

Well, if you enjoyed "The Magician," which I think you did, then you should definitely check out "Sawdust And Tinsel." Both it and "Cries And Whispers" feature fantastic performances from the lovely Harriet Anderson.

Also, "Cries And Whispers" is quite emotionally draining. So, be prepared.

My girlfriend got me 3 films from the B&N sale along with some other assorted things for Christmas. I don't know what films they are, but I trust her, so it has me excited.

OK...thanks for the suggestions and the heads up. I just added Sawdust and Tinsel...I'll let you know what I think about each of them.

I had to stop The Fallen Idol about 30 mins in, due to family stuff (trip to Dunkin Donuts). It's a bit dry right now, but the characters are interesting. I'll head back in a few minutes, so I'll try to make it to end with little or no interruptions.

Which part are you saying "if you believe that" on? The religion part? If so, then yes. If we got some MASS delusion of different STORIES from thousands of years ago, that have not been proven true and has some really off-the-wall ideas and stories, yet people in 2010 kill, steal, rape, start wars, sexist, racist, all because of these stories that have been passed down by FEAR. Then I say the mass is blinded by religion. How can you say it's not? Millions of people will laugh at me if I say monsters are real, but if I say Hell is made up by a human, they would riot my house. Religion wars is in the news everyday. "You better not open this place of a different religion 2 blocks away from where a plane crashed 9 years ago, or I'll burn your books!". Good ol' religion. How can people act that way?

And I know not everyone is like that in religion. But you still believe what your religion is, which is plenty to go of off.

*AHEM* I read the discussion a few pages back about the Leopard transfer. Ok, if the french release indeed is better...than that's fine. I am not going to hate on Criterion because another release is better. It happens. Buy what you feel is is right for you. I'm a loyal Criterion buyer for years but I don't mind buying other companies bluray's/dvd's nor do I think they are the only ones who can create great bluray's/dvd's...because at the end of the day I am more of a fan of the films and want them released right rather than the companies that release them.

It's perfectly fine to admit that perhaps the french release is better...so what? it surely looks better than the criterion in those caps however I'd rather judge by watching both on my tv.

Unfortunately we have to get used to it again for now. The theocrats duped the public into voting them back into office for the next two years. Get ready for more "faith based" government. Lots of laws like creationism in schools are forthcoming. They might even eliminate any reference to dinosaurs from text books.

Ever since Linda Chambers recreated her classic role.

It's been a little too thick in here for me to post anything. So I will watch from the sidelines.

Yeah, ditto. I tried yesterday, realized how dumb and immediately lost in the shuffle it was. I'm having fun watching people rip the hell out of each other, though.

Somehow I have trouble thinking of either as "artistic."

Though one has classical actors and Penthouse pets...the other has skinny teenagers and chocolate pudding.
