Gonna presume 4K has taken away some space from huge boxsets coming out, not as to say we'll never get em again I'm just thinking they'll be more spread out

That's probably true. Plus, if they're doing a career spanning box like the Bergman or Fellini sets, not ALL of those titles could even be made 4K, or not without tremendous time and expense, which is likely why we'll never see a career spanning Kurosawa box or anything like that again. Unless people can just ACCEPT regular blu ray, without a tantrum.

Plus, a lot of resources are now going towards the 4K releases, now. It's going to be very different from now on, most likely.

In the DVD era, almost ANY release was possible....

I anxiously await a Chaplin boxset, considering they own everything except for A Countess in Hong Kong which I presume would be easy to license

For sure valid points. Lets say they did the AK 100 box set on 4K, even at $20 per movie that's $500. I just don't know if logistically it makes sense. I almost think Volumes would make sense. 3-5 films across multiple volumes I think could be plausible. Or we'll just get the bigger Kurosawa's on 4K eventually.

Also fingers crossed for Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid and After Hours for November. Bless us Criterion overlords...

Pat Garrett I can see, but I don’t think I’d hold my breath for After Hours this month

Whenever I’ve been invested in keeping up with announcements they always get delayed…so if that happens today…my bad.

Got that odd feeling we'll be getting a twitter announcement that announcements are delayed with a teaser pic of one of the titles to be announced.

It’s all the rage these days.

And then tonight that leak guy will post like the years for each release.

Criterion looked at the list of "holidays", saw that it's National Relaxation Day, and was like "okay, good enough".

You’d think they’d announce it today just so that the titles don’t get leaked again, but I don’t know what goes on over at Criterion.

In times when there is a delay, I remember when they delayed for several days because they couldn't finalize the Moonstruck cover for whatever reason. They eventually just announced anything and put up temp cover art up for Moonstruck.

Ever since, I assume that all the delays deal with little, borderline ancillary stuff like that.

Sorry guys and gals but I asked Monsieur Jon Mulvaney to postpone today's announcements as I don't feel seeing the new titles today.

From the teaser image, Naked Lunch UHD? Arrow is apparently doing a release of it at some point, so it could be a similar deal with the Crash release?
