i realized the only way to figure out the issue with the Third Man would be to look inside.

there was no security device on the inside, the same surface the disc is attached to. don't all new copies have that, whether from amazon or not?

I emailed Amazon on Saturday, after I saw that my Videodrome still didn't ship, and they said I had to cancel my order and re-order it for the movie to come in on the 7th. So, I re-ordered it, and it shipped fifteen minutes ago, so hopefully I still get it tomorrow. Same thing happened for my Bridge on the River Kwai awhile back.

Beta,

I order straight from Criterion. They always ship titles so you recieve them a day or so before the release.

How's the house? Gearing up for another long brutal winter? It's about 30F in Pittsburgh today.

Senso, Sweet Smell of Success, and Double-Life of Veronique all dropped back down to $27.99 so I ordered those, and it clearly says for shipping options:

Good idea Beta,

I did the same thing when the Rhino code was in the newsletter for the BBS box. I recieved the box the day before the newsletter came out. Jon Mulvany was kind enough to ship me a $10 gift certificate.

Apparently...... here is the response I got from Amazon.... which I don't believe is truthful, but I'm not too worried.... I just thought I'd get a little credit for my troubles from them

I thought every pre-order via Amazon had the "want it delivered on release day" option..... I'm thinking it might have something to do with the fact that I pre-ordered it prior to there BEING a release date for it.....

No, not every one will have it. Some will have it, but others you have to select the option of release date delivery at checkout. Otherwise they will just ship the day before or on release day.

I've come to learn that it's always best to pre-order a few days in advance, so the order is fresh. I've pre-ordered months in advance and some barely ever come on the release date. That's why I had to cancel my Videodrome and re-order it. Because of that, I'm getting it in tomorrow.

Usually the $27.99 price for Criterion Pre-orders from Amazon doesn't stay around too long.....

The fact that I missed Double Life of Veronique, Senso, and The Sweet Smell of Success was terrible, and I got really lucky they dropped the price back down.
