I kind of assumed that they would being it’s an IFC title and Kent Jones’ general contributions, NYC based, work with the NYFF, etc. Felt like a little nepotism in the world! But then again I also figured they’d release Columbus and that didn’t happen either.

Good film, though! Jones was always my favorite of the NYFF directors (since I’ve been following)

Do you mean sold out? it's my first time ordering from them so a little worried, I'm planning to wait till November 15th if the titles I want will be in stock (Mostly Delon's films and Lost Highway).

I mean the 50% discount being applied to everything eligible should be done by the morning.

Thinking about getting Cure, The Complete Films of Agnes Varda (maybe), Take Out, Infernal Affairs, and Shoah during the 50 percent off sale. Any thoughts on these movies?

I have the Varda set and if you like her work it is essential. It is monumentally comprehensive (barring I think some TV work), has a fantastic range of extras and a brilliant book which even includes an art-book style section on her visual work.

I'm surprised it was never announced in the three years since release by either Criterion or Shout!, especially since I seem to remember Kent Jones and/or Mary Kay Place doing a closet video around the time. Fingers crossed it does get a release at some point as she's incredible in the film.

As for the sale, already ordered "Eve's Bayou" for pickup this weekend and my checklist this sale includes:

"Arsenic and Old Lace"
"Blow Out" 4K
"Cure"
"Malcolm X"
"The Power of the Dog"
"Sound of Metal"
"WALL●E"

I guess things could be worse for Criterion. WB Discovery just revealed a Q3 loss of $2.3 billion and Lionsgate a loss of $1.8 bil. Honestly, how is this even possible? Anyway, my two Criterion picks for November will be Power of the Dog and Malcolm X, both UHD.

That might explain why Lionsgate is finally licensing after not budging throughout the Blu-ray and the DVD eras.

Usually the outrage I see over closet videos is when they choose the DVD over the Blu-ray!

If only they consulted you. I’m sure you could’ve told them how to save money.
