Received my "Repulsuon-Wages of Fear-The Seventh Seal" order today. Here is a small photo of my small Criterion Collection:

Weird thing is that 4 releases out of those 5 that I got are black-and-white movies and I'll order "The Third Man" later this month which is also black-and-white. Gotta love Criterion and black-and-white classics!

Has anybody here ever gotton a damaged Criterion disc?

, I recieved the Tanner 88 two disc DVD set, and the first disc had a large crack in the hub. Since I ordered it from Barnes and Noble.com I will have to spend the money that I saved with the discount on returning it~

The other disc in the shipment ,Short Cuts was perfectly fine.

PS,I've had a few other DVD discs over the years have craks in the hub, I've NEVER seen a crack on a Blu-ray disc or have ever had one crack, must be beacuse they use better plastic on them.

Question for those with the original For All Mankind 4-side SE laserdisc from 1989. The original special edition had nice bonus features, booklet, etc. Apart from the remastered picture quality on the BD edition, how do the bonus features compare to the earlier LD release?

Just my freakin' luck,I've got yet another cracked Criterion disc from Barnes and Noble.com, Tanner 88's first disc yesterday and Richard III's 2nd disc fro the Olivier's Shakespeare set today,all the money I saved will be spent on S&H to ship the defective ones back!!!

I notice that blu-ray's never have cracking problems! Maybe DVD plastic is more brittle!

That is really odd you are getting discs like that... i would E-mail Criterion at their site and let them know it is odd... they would probably get replacment discs to you faster... that is really odd. The stores usually will exchange also... you coudl call to see and to check their stock.

Thanks,The cracks are on the hub of the disc, and they were there when I opened them up,and the shipping boxes were in prestine shape when i got them from UPS. I did'nt know you can take back B&N stuff to the store for excahange, the only thing is that they do not have Tanner 88 in any of the stores in my area but all of them do have the Olivier set, so do I just take my packing slip back to the store? Will open up and check the set before leaving the store!

I would call and talk to someone in the music/ dvd dept and ask if you can... but if the item is already opened usually they will open the one you are exchannging... I woudl just say open theirs and switch the discs. Esp if your cases are in better shape.

I found out I'll be traveling tomorrow and Thursday for work, get back about midnight Thursday, so I may just take part of Friday off and watch it. My first Polanski movie was Ninth Gate and loved it.

Looks like it runs the full gamet of emotions. Hopefully TRU will have it on sale the week it comes out. I missed the Bolt deal, have to pick that up sometime soon.

Take them to a B&N store. They should take care of you - perhaps a reorder with free shipping?

Yes. Also it's MUCH harder to scratch blu-rays due to what they coat the disks with.
