All the remaining Kurosawa, Kobayashi, Imamura, Honda, and the list basically goes on for about a mile.
I bet Japan will finish releasing 4K UHD's for Kurosawa, then criterion will release a 4K UHD box set. I can see that happening. I can also see Honda films following the same way. You might be thinking, "nah, too good to be true." Just wait! It'll happen....

I tried to pre-order it on three different sites, but it wouldn't let me. One of the retailers even threatened to block all my future orders if I try to pre-order again, so it's probably for the best. Either way, once the pre-order date passes we should be good and Criterion will release some Japanese titles.

What about The Heroic Trio/Executioners? Is there anything about that getting released?

Nothing new. There's no method to Criterion's madness.

Unfortunate that it's still on DVD (Then again, there are a lot of Criterions that still need upgrades). From what this site says, the Arrow Video one is region free and is a 4K restoration. Unless one wants to continue waiting, this is the best choice available atm

'Gate Of Hell' I think.

They appear to be in spine number order on the shelf.

Gate of Hell would make an absolutely beautiful 4k release. It is one of the most beautiful technicolor films of all time. Amazing variety of colors!

Does anyone know why there are no Werner Herzog films in the collection? They have Burden of Dreams, but that's a Les Blank film. It seems like a no-brainer to give his films the Criterion treatment. Has Criterion just not been able to or not wanted to acquire the rights to any of his films? Is it Herzog himself who's opposed to being part of the collection? What's the story here?
