I guess Spellbound is guaranteed coming sometime this year or next. I'm really excited. Been a while since the last Hitchcock release.

An Ozu boxset before a Kurosawa boxset? Could happen I guess. Maybe we'll get both!

They upped it to $40???

It was $20 when I was a member, but once they decided not to give the membership discount or allow coupons to Criterion titles on sale, I became an ex-member pretty quickly.

There's a $40 premium membership as well as a free rewards membership. The premium membership includes all the previous membership benefits as well as some new ones (like free beverage size upgrade, early access to titles, free tote bag, etc.). For the rewards membership you collect stamps (1 stamp for every $10 spent with 10 stamps earning a $5 reward).

Can we also get a Mizoguchi box set? I'll settle for the Fallen Women set in 4K!

I can’t wait for that Ozu boxset. I have only owned Tokyo Story and An Autumn Afternoon. I do think that the 4K restoration for An Autumn Afternoon is a bit problematic because I really think the cool color grading for the DVD edition looked so absolutely beautiful.

Not a huge fan of Contempt but I was wondering when they would do a 4K. Started to wonder when I saw Cannes poster with this film a few years ago. The old remaster has some really ugly colors, especially for a colorful film. Like Discreet Charm, this film would really benefit with a 4K restoration because of how outdated the DVD master grading is. This is one of the few critically acclaimed films that I wasn’t a huge fan for, so I would consider a rewatch for this one the next time I get that chance. Could only predict that Lionsgate will do a limited edition steelbook (with slip) through Best Buy. Hoping Lionsgate will do one on The Third Man, which they’re probably holding on for the last major StudioCanal title that Criterion lost.

I like to read Dr. S' reviews sometimes for, I'll say, uh, entertainment purposes.

Only reason I even mention it is anytime I read one of his reviews it's shitting on a film because certain elements don't align with his dogmatically far right view of the world, which has seemingly intensified over the years from what I can observe. I mean, if that's his deal, I don't care, but the reviews can be extremely bizarre. I'm not even bothered by them, but he writes some f**king doozies.

The master of scene composition Ozu.

Floating Weeds 4k HDR with a steelbook and a booklet, then we can safely assume Criterion is back in the ballgame.

If there is one boxed set I'd be okay emptying my wallet for, Ozu is THE ONE.

The one good thing about his reviews is that they unite the community because of how shit they are.

It seems obvious now, but until I read that sentence I never even considered it.
