I'm prematurely thinking about what could be announced for Halloween, but aside from some potential Cronenberg 4K upgrades, I can't think of much.
In terms of Japanese titles, I'd love Criterion to release a boxset of all the Ishiro Honda films they have that are not Godzilla films like Matango. Goke, Body Snatcher From Hell upgrade would be great. Or Demon Pond as that got a 4K restoration in 2021.

Yeah, I feel like we could see Demon Pond for October.

That would be a mini dream come true. It's a fun yet eerie film and full of Yokai monsters. The music is also phenomenal.

I'd love to see Masahiro Shinoda's "Demon Pond" and perhaps "Under the Blossoming Cherry Trees" turn up for Halloween.

Yep. June 30th - July 28th.

Time to start thinking about what halves of titles you want. I'm getting After now, and Hours in November.

A new 4K restoration of The Straight Story (1999), which was supervised by Lynch, will be shown at this year's Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival. It was done by Studiocanal, so I expect they will release a 4K in countries where they have rights. Unfortunately the title is locked up with Disney in the US, but perhaps Lynch can work some magic and get Disney to license it to Criterion.

Looking at Il Cinema Ritrovato's site, it looks like Spellbound is under the Recovered and Restored section as well. Doesn't say anything about a new restoration but I'm wondering if this is an early sign for a potential release up ahead.

Few other titles I saw under the Recovered and Restored section:

The Pianist (2002)
Black Sunday (1960)
Dragnet Girl (1932)
From Here to Eternity (1953)

ALOÏSE (1975) - I'm a huge Delphine Seyrig fan and I have been looking for this film for a while now since it also included Michael Lonsdale and Isabelle Huppert as well. Hope this gets an English-friendly release, although I can't imagine this film appealing to many people even among the Criterion Collection community

I'm hoping all these titles are having new restorations although the site doesn't say anything about them besides placing it in the Recovered and Restored section, which I assume is new restorations(?).

On the Ritrovato page, if you click the "Full Film Card" option from the right side it brings up more details. It got a 4K restoration from Disney / Academy Film Archive / MoMA. Criterion seemingly got the rights to it when they picked up Notorious and Rebecca as well, so I'm hoping we see a BD (or 4K) release sooner than later.

I don't think there is any need because soon the rights will revert back to Lynch.

Same between preorders, I will probably wait until the one-day flash sale in October.

If Ritrovata is involved I will not be happy, they’ve deliberately botched too many releases. I don’t know why anybody uses their services.

I had been really looking forward to the upcoming sale but now I'm kinda torn as to what I'll actually get.

Kiss Me Deadly was at the top of my list, High and Low was another one I seriously had my eye on. But Criterion has been doing a lot of 4k re-releases lately, to the point where the conventional wisdom of "oh they'll never release that in 4K" doesn't seem to really hold.

I'll probably get Mildred Pierce for sure, but I don't know how much I'll actually get this time around.

I’ve sold off a few and upgraded. I’ve gotten $13-15 each selling things like Time Bandits and Princess Bride to upgrade. Just sell them off if you want to upgrade later
