If Freaks isn't announced, we riot. I went to Home Depot and I bought all of the pitchforks they had just in case.

Same---that tease yesterday was enough to tip me over to certainty that today is the day.

Yeaaaaaah, I’ve just been spoiled recently! We haven’t had a later afternoon announcement announcement since the July 2022 slate (most of which was leaked before the announcement anyway). I was around for the chaos and mayhem of the November 2020 drop (with Moonstruck’s incomplete cover) and the Spine #1000 debacle. But it’s been nice to have morning announcements more often!

Man, I remember in the mid 2010s there would be announcements at like 5pm, 5:30pm, etc. This noon stuff is def a newer trend!

Yeah don't they often leave the announcements until late in the day? I also remember announcements often coming after 5pm because on many an announcement day I had just assumed the day was done and then BAM! Announcements at 6pm lol.

I'd hope for Eyes Wide Shut 4K, but I'm guessing they'd make that a December release.

Well, Walkabout in september; DLN in october… As long as Criterion is on a Nic Roeg roll, why not Performance and Bad Timing? November and December. See?

Well, if there was ever a christmas movie. Makes me wonder if Leon Vitali’s passing had any negative effect, even if just a delay on the remaining Kubrick restorations.

Feels like something that would be released in November. . .

Maybe not THIS November, but just in November.

I think I wrote on this page when the Paramount Criterion titles were going OOP that it would only be temporary. Paramount will get what they can from the titles and eventually renew with Criterion at some point. I bet that at least Days of Heaven and Nashville will return within the next 12 months, and with UHD releases this time.

Not sure if this has been discussed on this thread (couldn’t find a reference in search), but could the recent Roger Deakins in the Criterion Closet segment mean something? Jesse James came to mind immediately. It had a 4k DI. Feels like one of those blockbuster November announcements.

I thought so too, but it was pointed out by another member here (Gacivory I believe) that he was in the city as part of his book tour. He had a book signing at the Strand bookstore the same day he visited Criterion.

If any Malick film deserves UHD, it is Days of Heaven.

Oh man I didn’t realize Freaks was a possibility.

Probably a 5pm Eastern announcement like the old days.

Can't Wait! I hope it's a Garbo film. Has anyone ever asked for a Garbo film yet?

Freaks and Amadeus 4k would be phenomenal too.
