Wow, a Criterion release of The Others. Did not ever see that coming. I remember liking it when it came out, I might revisit it.

HOLY ****, HOLY SHIT, HOLY MOLY!!!!! We knew it was coming, but the Todd Browning set with ****ing Freaks and the surprise of The Others, good lord. I don't even plan on waiting for the next sale, day one for both of them. Already have Videodrome and Don't Look Now 4Ks.

And did Criterion's site just crash?
Next one as crazy as it sounds should be The Devils. They would knock it out of the park, if only WB would let them.

Considering Zaslav isn’t exactly a genius with the catalog, he might just give them The Devils and not think twice about it.

Meh. I might check out Freaks, because I know it's one of the pre-eminent precode and horror titles of the Classic Hollywood era and I've heard a lot about it. I'm not a big horror fan, though I do like the Classic Universal monster movies, Val Lewton, and Vincent Price. I hate how every October, TCM's programming and everything else seems to lean heavily into horror and nothing else. Oh well, at least I have a ton of other movies to watch.

The Freaks set is vara nice, The Others artwork is beautiful, and Nanny looks pretty spooky. I'm in for those three titles.

Now that Criterion is doing Prime Video, Refn's Too Old to Die Young desperately needs to be on Blu-ray.

I've never preordered directly from Criterion before. Do they typically get things to you on or before street date?

Freaks is a beautiful movie, you need to see it. Acting isn’t top notch but the story is so amazing that you won’t notice. And it has some pretty good jokes for a pre-code film.

Freaks at last.

The Others is surprising, but welcomed.

Missing out on Don't Look Now worked out for me.

That's three for me.

One guy got After Hours on or before June 24 and he never revealed his trick, so I’d say go for it.

While we're talking Amazon, I'm really hoping Criterion gets Annette and Paterson sooner or later. (The latter especially seems likely given their relationship with Jarmusch.)

The Others could be tempting. If I do end up getting Videodrome on UHD at some point I’ll just go for the Arrow.

I remember really enjoying The Others when it came out in theaters, but it’s also the sort of film where I feel a digital 4K copy for a tenner would suffice for me.

Even though I wish The Devil and Daniel Webster would've received blu-ray upgrade this October, I'm very happy about the Browning set. The cover art is incredible and I wish I had it as poster.

Lol. I'm guessing much like Nightmare Alley, they're trying to tap into the look of the old carnival/sideshow posters. I definitely don't like it as much as the Nightmare Alley one, but it'll definitely get someone's attention. Though considering what the film is about, an elegant cover would be odd too, though could be an amusing juxtaposition of the cover and actual subject matter.

I'm also not a horror movie fan but the Tod Browning set is a must for me, not so much for Freaks but for The Unknown. It along with He Who Gets Slapped are my favorite Lon Chaney films. I haven't bought Don't Look Now yet so that is still an interest for me. The rest is a big pass.

The Tod Browning set for me. I'll hold off on pre-ordering for the time being though to see if it will be eligible for the flash sale (assuming that there will be one in October).
