Remember this guy? Well it's the end of the year. Did Criterion keep all their promises? Were we way off base on any of our guesses?

And more importantly, will we get a new puzzle for 2011?

Usually, someone posts spoilers at one of the Criterion sites regarding tomorrow's future release announcements by now ...

For me, the only benefit to having Following released by Criterion would be to have a Nolan film under their belt. I'm not sure as to the strength of the film itself though. I'd much rather hear news about The Killing making a debut on blu.

The Criterion Cast usually posts their predictions, but I think the majority of people in here felt like it took away a lot of the fun that comes along with the actual announcement from Criterion.

They were incorrect with a few titles last month. I think they had Amarcord and Fish Tank or something right...or maybe they predicted Still Walking. I don't remember.

I've decided not to post any of our "predictions", because of the recent complaints from people on forums that think we ruin the fun. I'll have my post up on CriterionCast.com as soon as Criterion makes their announcement.

Yeah, I had posted a blog entry the day before the releases, with a list of titles that could have been announced, and there were many rumored titles, that I was wrong about. I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised with the March titles announced tomorrow.

I've written a few posts on CriterionCast.com, going through this image throughout the year, as the titles were announced. As far as I can remember, the feather which should represent "Four Feathers", still hasn't been announced. I think everything else was released in 2010. I can't wait to see what they come up with for 2011!

Dang it. Now I want to know. I don't know if I will be "pleasantly" surprised in a good way or bad. Hoping for something new that hasn't been said before.

I cast my lot for a Criterion release (BBS set) for Blu-Ray of the year on the forum as I'm sure a lot of posters on this thread have done. Unfortunately the top 3 right now are: Alien Anthology, Inception, Saving Private Ryan.

All this talk about predictions. I'll play:

The Killing (Kubrick)
City Lights (Chaplin)
Floating Weeds (Ozu)
Diaobolique (Clouzot)
Au Revoir Les Enfantes (Malle)
Hiroshima Mon Amour (Resnais) (Just this would make me very happy)

You'll be happy then. One of these just might happen tomorrow.

I'm also waiting for The Killing, Y Tu Mama Tambien, and echo a prior poster who would like to see them pick up Carlos the Jackal.

City Lights or the Killing is the 2 from his list that I believe you are talking about. Come on Criterion, release something from South America (pre-2000).

You should just post it. People have a choice to look or not.

It's not that and it's not CriterionCast. It's the people with the big mouths posting it on other forums in non-spoiler posts. Can't wait less than 24 hours is silly.
