Most people have probably already seen this, but it looks like Criterion won't be releasing The Social Network, as some were speculating would happen.

I don't know how that's even a surprise. The movie was a critical and box-office success. Surely the company who distributed it in cinemas would want to release it themselves.

Yeah, you would think. I think most of the speculation was based on the fact that Criterion released Benjamin Button.

Then why did Criterion release David Fincher's previous effort The Curious Case of Benjamin Button?

Because David Fincher wanted another of his titles to be a part of the collection. It's the black sheep of Criterion blu-rays since Paramount pretty much handled everything about the release.

It's also IMO the worst Criterion blu-ray so far, although I'm probably in the minority here.

Sure, you could count that, if all that matters to you is a release with the slapped on "Criterion" label on it.

I love this one. The quality is right up there with any other Criterion IMO. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it comes in a standard Blu case instead of a thicker one like the other Criterions.

However, thanks to Higgs1 from a while back, you can print this out and stick it in a CC blu ray case.

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/9...minbuttond.jpg

Then, it fits in with your other CCs with no problem.

Ok, I think this will be fun.

I want to know which titles you think are the worst in the Criterion blu-ray library.
Basically movies you just don't plain like.

Ok! It's pretty much the ones I don't buy (since I don't like them), but who am I to say whether they're the "worst"? So, instead I'll list the films that I'm not very fond of. Whether you interpret me as saying they're the worst is solely up to you but:

In the Realm of the Senses
Antichrist
House

That's only blu-ray.

I just wanted to know why you thought Ben Button was "the worst"? Was it the film? What the what?

Edit: There's a lot of quality in the films I just listed, but if I don't enjoy the film then there's no point in me investing in the rest, unless there are shorts adding more value or something.

Keep in mind I always prefaced "worst" with "in my opinion". I'm sure nobody here thinks my opinion is the final word on anything.

In regards to Benjamin Button, the movie looks great, I just don't like the main character. He pretty much ruins the movie for me. He is not interesting at all, aside from his peculiar "disease". I'm not a fan of Forest Gump, but IMO he was way more interesting than BB.

BTW, I only compare BB with Forest Gump because that's the film BB has been compared with the most.

I've never considered it part of the collection.

I'm not a big fan of House either, but I loved Antichrist.

I can definitely understand that. If you don't like the main character then it can be a constant irritant that removes you from the film. I hate it though when it's not just the character removing you from the experience, but the actors playing them.
