So when it comes to those that never had a Blu Ray, I most would love upgrades to That Hamilton Woman (only movie in my Top 10 without one) and Trouble in Paradise, but I'm now making that duo into a trio, as I will start to champion All of Us Strangers. It's a Searchlight title, but this is the most likely place for it to get a release from. No idea if Warner or Criterion will release The Wind and The Crowd, but those should be shoe ins for either. As should The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg and The Wedding March (the latter of which is Paramount), but who knows at this point. I'd throw in Hud in the mix, but I'm starting to think Paramount might do that one themselves. The last three I really want, The Merry Widow, Marie Antoinette and Maytime are all but guaranteed to be done by Warner themselves, but I would love a Merry Widow release that includes the English and French version, if the latter still exists. I can picture the Criterion cover being Jeanette MacDonald and Maurice Chevalier surrounded by countless dancers. |

I watched SubUrbia on the channel, and didn't love it. Maybe some interesting supplements could get me more interested--but probably my least favorite Linklater.

Really want SubUrbia and maybe they could make me happy and throw in Play and make a Linklater adapts plays double feature set!

My wishlist is that every movie that Criterion has had the rights to for at least 4 years and have not put out finally gets released.

I'd really love to see a Kurosawa set, a Dreyer set, and finally get an upgrade of White Dog. I'm also getting desperate for 4ks of any of Wes Anderson's flicks.
And I know they don't really pay much mind to anniversaries, and there are some Fox titles here they probably just couldn't get, but it would be very cool to get 25th anniversary 4k UHD releases for American Beauty, Bringing Out the Dead, Election, Eyes Wide Shut, Fight Club, The Insider, The Iron Giant, Magnolia, and The Straight Story. Not to mention Cruel Intentions and Go, which would probably be more likely from other labels. (It would be hilarious for Criterion to have the US 4k rights for American Pie, but I won't bet on that one even though they did put out The Breakfast Club.) |

As I said before, still flabbergasted Warner didn’t do a 40th anniversary 4K of Risky Business, but if it is indeed with Criterion, it softens the blow. |

I'm looking at it right now in 1080p, and looks more like an upscale. It doesn't look bad as a tiny box on my screen, but you examine it close up, it lacks any fine detail. I remember Third Window mentioned they would be willing to foot the bill to give it an HD scan if Toho would be willing to give them a discount on the license, but Toho said no. Toho is simply nuts.

To be fair (to me), Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and Royal Tenenbaums could use a little spiffing up. They look fine on blu, but not as good as Moonrise Kingdom and Grand Budapest. I would definitely settle for getting new-to-Criterion Andersons like French Dispatch and Asteroid City on 4k first though.

The way I would see is that someone is willing to spend a lot of money to restore your film, give them a discount. You can charge full price for all the other territories for the license, but the crazy part is that they don't care to license at all it seems.
