That was my thought! He looks more like WWE wrestler than he did in the movie.

Criterion should put it in supermarkets next to the beefcake romance covers and see how many sales they get.

I'm obsessed with Querelle and I'm so happy it's getting a release at all so I'm not too much of a stickler for covers. But this is by no means that bad, it's not amazing but not bad.

I'm pretty much excited for all of these releases. I already own the Arrow 4K for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas so I have no interest in buying the Criterion edition. Now that I am thinking about it, a Brazil 4K would be nice. I heard stuff about the 4K restoration existing out there but I really don't know what to expect in terms of color grading. Hopefully nothing too weird.

I saw Blue Velvet for the first time a few months ago and loved it. Not as surreal and weird as his other films but I see it as a bit of a standalone film much like Dune in the sense that both films deviate from the director's style a bit (BV was very straightforward storyline while Dune was more of a big Hollywood spectacle kind of film).

Rainer Werner Fassbinder is a director I have been very happy as of late. So far, 2 out of the 3 that I have seen from him are 5/5s. I avoid Querelle mainly because I heard it was not the best starter for Fassbinder (BFI) so I probably won't bother watching this one for a while.

Bound sounds like it's up my alley but admittedly I know very little of the film. It has been previously released before but I'm sure there are going to be a lot of people going after this release.

It never really crossed my mind that The Underground Railroad was going to get a release. This is also a miniseries so this will be different from most Criterion releases. I believe this is the fifth miniseries to get the Criterion treatment. One of those was Fishing with John back in '99! The other one was Fassbinder's Berlin Alexanderplatz, Eight Hours Don't Make a Day and World on a Wire.

But my most anticipated release in this batch has got to go to Victims of Sin which looks insanely vivid from the cover. And although this is a B&W film, I think there's not a lot of Criterion titles as of late that doesn't cover older Mexican cinema (mostly in general). For whatever reason, I'm getting a bit of a "Copacabana" feeling with the cover, which is probably what got me interested in this one.

I skipped blu-ray for the most part, so as someone who is building out a library for the first time on UHD, criterion is killing it. By far my most purchased of all the labels..I've literally been emailing milestone about yo soy cuba for years since the first theatrical run they did of the 4k restoration and out of nowhere criterion not only gets the license but doesn't limit it to BD only.

Definitely does cause in a tweet about it he specified that no AI was used in its creation so he has definitely seen the discourse around it lol https://twitter.com/astrazero/status...73863914221642

Well I hope Criterion gets to it soon at some point as the imprint Blu Ray is really really good. And I am planning on buying the Eureka Blu Ray of Thief of Baghdad too at some point this year.

I am getting "Querelle", "The Underground Railroad", and "Bound", for sure.

Maybe "Victims of Sin", too.

I am not 4K, and already have blu's of "Blue Velvet" and "Fear and Loathing".

I’m going to pick up Victims of Sin, Blue Velvet, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas two of which I don’t own yet. And the third one is a new to Blu Ray title.

The Wim Wenders Foundation is currently working on a new 4K restoration of Paris, Texas. I have a feeling it’ll either end up at Cannes Classics or Venice at the latest.

If you like sexy crime films, you'll love this. Gina Gershon plays an ex-con working as handyman for an apartment building who gets involved with a gangster's (Joe Pantoliano) girlfriend (Jennifer Tilly). It also features a young, built like a Greek god Christopher Meloni as a rival in the gang. Bound has a steamy seduction scene that exceeds the Yowza! quotient from The Hunger in sheer sexual power. Really, Bound is one of the best films of the 90s.

Possibly might get Victims of Sin, but certainly interested in The Underground Railroad (I'm really not sure if I've heard of/read about either before. Lovely artwork for Underground Railroad, and for me it was quite a surprise as these days I don't hear/read about mini-series getting physical media releases (the story is fascinating and interesting). Glad we got the latest set of Criterion announcements before this weekend.
